iPort introduces new FS iPod music systems
iPort just rolled out five new freestanding (FS) iPod docking stations in addition to the
In-Wall docks they brought us last year. These new models share most of the features of the In-Wall series such as IR control, bi-directional RS-232 communication (with touchpanels for example), and the ability to sync with iTunes on a remote PC. Additionally, the docks are designed for easy integration into your home entertainment system and include a multi-function cable to minimize USB, audio, video,
control and power connectivity clutter. The entry level FS-1 (about $150) is controlled manually via the click wheel while the FS-2 ($200) adds an IR remote and variable audio output. Units at the top end (the FS-5 we assume) offer more advanced expansion capabilities into your home entertainment system and enough juice to accommodate very long wiring runs.
