Is iPhone anticipation slowing Cingular smartphone sales?

AppleInsider relayed an interesting tidbit from Apple's BFF on Wall Street, analyst Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray: Cingular stores (it's going to take me a while to get used to saying "AT&T Mobility") are noticing a distinct dip in smartphone sales. What's the explanation? Apparently, customers who would normally be investing in the high-end, email and multimedia-capable phones are holding off in anticipation of some new gadget that's coming in June. Nyuk nyuk nyuk.

Munster's perennial Apple optimism notwithstanding, his suggestion that AAPL is heading into "the three strongest quarters" in corporate history may not be too far off target. His forecast for the company's stock, after the stellar 2nd quarter results? A cool $140.
