CES: Sandio's 3D mouse

Sandio Technology is displaying its new 3D mouse at CES this year. Unlike what you typically imagine when you hear the term '3D peripheral', this mouse looks much more down-to-earth. There's no gimbals, you don't suspend your hand in an industrial-looking contraption; there are just buttons that act as 3D spatial manipulators. To turn right, for instance, you twist buttons on either side of the mouse to the right. This has the advantage of being much more intuitive.

But does it work? I'm interested in trying this out, but wonder if the software this thing will ship with will be compatible with your favorite 3D worlds and games. If there isn't support for such a thing, then it's just a new mouse with extra buttons that don't do anything.
