The Queue: Change we can believe in

Welcome back to The Queue, WoW Insider's daily Q&A column where the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Adam Holisky will be your host today.

No no no. I'm not being political here.

The change I'm talking about is changing the game. We can all believe in changes to WoW because we're all reading a big flashy World of Warcraft news and information site. Namely change about Wintergrasp, audio settings, mob behavior, and craftables.

Except changing Paladins. They don't need any change. /snicker

MK asked...

"I was wondering if there's been any noise coming out of Blizzard regarding fixing Wintergrasp?"

Blizzard is constantly changing and modifying Wintergrasp. While there's nothing specific yet, pay close attention to the upcoming Patch 3.1 PTR Patch Notes to see what they're thinking.

I would say, however, right now their primary focus seems to be fine tuning class balance and working on Ulduar.

Synapsis asked...

"Is there a way to shut off the intro cinematic so when I'm staring at a huge queue I don't have to listen to the dragon roaring but I can still listen to my music?"

You can find the button labeled "Options" on the right hand side of your login screen. Clicking there you can get all the standard options you'd see in game for video and audio settings. Turn off the sound before you login, and then turn it back on once you've loaded your character. Of course, I just keep my sound off and listen to Smodcast.

Razariel asked...

"With mods like xperl or putbull you can see what "class" a mob is - usually warrior or paladin. What do these mean, if anything ?"

There are some basics things that I've found to be true (although I'm sure there are exceptions to disprove these). Most paladins will have a healing ability or some other magic like ability. Most warriors will do just physical damage.

Of course the thing to remember, especially for mobs in the 60 to 80 range, is that each mob really has its own quirks. Some run, some don't. Some heal, some don't. Some don't follow you very far, others will run you back to Stormwind. Either way, the only way you'll really be able to get a feel for what each mob does is to research it via WoW Head or to fight the mob a few times yourself.

Bckwrds asked...

"Is there any news regarding the modification of weapon/armor-smithing? In BC BoP weapons from weapon-smithing were really well developed, while in WotLK, they only go up to 78 blues, kinda useless."

None. The same thing I said in yesterday's Queue applies for Blacksmithing as well. Blizzard doesn't want to make any craftable items appear too good. Don't expect this to change in WotLK. Whether or not it'll change in the next expansion, well, your guess is as good as mine.

I would say however, that many of the level 80 BoE epics are quite nice. Go with those if you can't get some PvP or entry level raid ones (and even then, depending on your spec, you still might want to use a BoE crafted weapon).

And on a personal note, I'd like to see the whole crafting system reworked from the ground up to be more like EVE Online's, but that's just the sadistic hard core gamer in me.

BoB forever!
