Shazam Launches New "Shazam Player" App for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch

Shazam®, the world's leading mobile discovery company, today announced its brand new Shazam Player™ App for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch is now available on the App Store. Shazam Player, the first new app from the company since the introduction of the original Shazam App, is a unique music player that includes the Shazam discovery features that people love such as LyricPlay streaming lyrics in time with the music, videos on YouTube and social sharing on Facebook and Twitter.

Andrew Fisher, Shazam CEO said, "This is a momentous occasion for the company as it is the first separate app we've introduced since the launch of the Shazam App for iPhone in 2008. With the Shazam Player App we are staying true to our core music fans by enabling them to experience their own music libraries in a more engaging and social way."

Shazam Player (see video) includes features that let you:

Bring your music to life with streaming lyrics, so you'll always have the words to your favourite songs with you;
Share the soundtrack of your day on Facebook and Twitter;
Watch YouTube videos and concert clips of the artists you love;
Keep up with concert dates of the artists you want to see perform live

Shazam Player lets you view your library by artist, album or song with links to iTunes so that you can grow your music collection and buy tracks of the musicians and groups you like. You can manage your music by keeping your existing iTunes playlists or creating new playlists within the app. The app also lets you select your favourite tracks and hide the ones you don't want to hear to make your 'shuffle' a more enjoyable experience. You can also put together an on-the-fly set list of the songs you're in the mood to hear in that particular moment.

Other fun features include:

Top Tracks – a changing list of songs with LyricPlay lyrics starting with the hit band, Maroon 5's favourite songs at launch – if you don't have them in your collection, you can purchase from iTunes;
Track Tray - In addition to seeing your library in artist/album/song view, you can use the Track Tray to see all the great Shazam features available for each song;
From within the Shazam Player App, people can instantly launch the Shazam App to identify a new song they are hearing on the radio or in a public place.

Fisher continued, "We think the Shazam Player App is a great new addition and is an excellent complement to our Shazam App so that people will always have a magical musical discovery experience, whether the song is something that they're just hearing for the first time or is a favourite in their collection.

The Shazam Player App – including the LyricPlay streaming lyrics feature - is available for free from the App Store on iPad, iPhone and iPod touch or at www.itunes.com/appstore.
