The Queue: Pick up the pieces

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.

I spent many hours today cutting, gluing, and assembling pieces for my board game prototype (again).

Amarettosourz asked:

Is there such thing as an allotted RNG luck for drops? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of RNG itself?

Well, "true random" means you could possibly go forever without seeing a single drop you could use. That's not very fun. It certainly brings high highs, but also very, very low lows. There are safeguards for many types of loot, from bonus loot coins to Garrosh heirlooms, to make sure that you do get something given enough time. Diablo 3 has a similar system in place now if it detects that you've gone quite a while without seeing a legendary drop. I'd rather my chances get a nudge in the right direction than rely on "true randomness".

RockwellH asked:

Do you think we will get a Tabard for the Draenor gate opening like we did for the BC one or do you think we will get the red Hearthstone mount?

Well, not to put too fine a point on it, but the red Hearthsteed will probably have something to do with Hearthstone. I'd love to get another tabard for Dark Portal-related activity, though. My original main still has her tabard from the BC event.

Benjamin Seeberger asked:

If you are invited to the Alpha or Beta for Warlords of Draenor, will you participate?

I've been considering this myself, and while I enjoyed the Mists of Pandaria Beta (because of the Annual Pass) I think I might pass on the Warlords of Draenor beta just so I can appreciate the expansion more when it is released. In the Mists Beta, I made my way all the way to the Vale when I was level 85, spoiled the Sha of Anger, and ended up getting kicked out of the Vale because world designers were still placing trees there (you could see the trees actually floating around like they were being dragged by a mouse). It kind of killed the mood for me.

I definitely will, but like with the MoP beta, I'll likely limit myself a bit. I got super burned out on Cataclysm before it even launched because of how much time I spent on the beta. That's why it's so hard for me to level characters from 80-85 now. I did it like ten times on beta, then even more times for live.

That said, I've been wanting to revisit Draenor for a really really long time, so we'll see how long my resolve holds before I make a blanket fort and spend all my time there.

MTA asked:

Is it possible that I may see major changes to how my class spec works (Ele Shaman) come 6.0? Will WoD changes be just a tweak to rotation or how you play the game entirely? I mostly do outdoor content with flex raids and bgs at the end of a patch.

I really don't want to go through learning too much stuff again.

There's a large volume of changes for every class, even this early in alpha. Your playstyle will change at least a little. You might as well get a head start by reading 'em.
