Crazy Skydiving falls flat

Dodging obstacles as a parachutist on their way back to the ground in a pixel art environment is the premise for Crazy Skydiving. Set in a very Flappy Bird style of gameplay, Crazy Skydiving emphasizes the punishing nature of difficult games. Crazy Skydiving is compatible with iOS devices running iOS 5.1.1 or later.

Players realize very early on that the difficulty level of Crazy Skydiving is extreme, as they attempt and fail numerous times to get past the first obstacle. There is no tutorial or instruction screen to teach players how to get through the game besides a confusing little picture of the parachutist zig zagging with the word "tap" above. This compounds the already apparent difficulty problem.

Players struggle through trying to tap the screen repeatedly, trying different tactics to just get past the first obstacle as the game does not specify whether players are to tap the side of the screen they want the parachutist to go or to tap a bunch of times in the center of the screen. Either tactic did not seem to help much in figuring out how to get a higher score. A lot of the time when players get a score higher than one, if feels like luck more than skill. A strategy that works in one run sends the parachutist plummeting to the ground in another run. This lack of control makes the game a challenge players will not want to come back to as it is not rewarding enough if players get past a score of one.

Crazy Skydiving tries to help out the player by providing pick ups that will help them get further. The drawback to this is that players who are having trouble getting past the first obstacle, will most likely not be able to get that helpful pick up. This is rather annoying because the slow pick up is very helpful for players who are having trouble: it makes it a little easier to dodge obstacles, but the difficulty of getting the pick up plagues any real benefits.

Another annoying part of Crazy Skydiving is the amount of ads in the game. There are full screen ads that pop up occasionally. This includes timed ads that won't go away until the timer hits zero, and on top of that, there is a banner ad that stays at the bottom of the screen the entire time.

Crazy Skydiving is free on the App Store. It is not recommended because of the overly intense difficulty and ads that detract from the gameplay.
