Cerasis Quest: More story than game

Cerasis Quest, a story based compilation of mini games, follows the traditional storyline of a damsel in distress needing saving. Except instead of a damsel, the prince is the one needing saving. Currently, the game features two different mini games, but promises more in a later update. Cerasis Quest is compatible with iOS devices running iOS 7.0.

Cerasis Quest tells the story of a young princess on her wedding day who must find and rescue her prince from a crazy flying octopus. There is quite a long intro telling the story before players see any mini games, which makes Cerasis Quest look more like an interactive storybook than a game. The story does have some quirky features like the flying octopus and talking otters which makes it interesting.

When players finally get to the first mini game, it is a Q&A type of game that does not give players enough time to think about the answer. Players often find themselves trying one answer choice and if that doesn't work, they will try the next until they get the question right. This leads to players not really trying to answer the questions as intended, but rather guessing and remembering the pattern of answers. This mini game is also not very forgiving as if players get one question wrong, they have to start back at the beginning of the questions. This mixed with a timer that ticks down too quickly makes this mini game not as much fun as it could be.

Once players successfully get through all of the questions, they find out that Cerasis has to get to a wizard's house, which segues into the next mini game: a navigational, almost maze like, game. Players tap arrows on the screen to navigate Cerasis through the woods and to the house. This mini game is not very hard, it has mainly a trial and error type of gameplay. However, once players reach the house, the game ends, at least for now. An update at a later date unknown is suppose to contain more of the story. This is a bit of a letdown given all of the backstory leading up to this seemingly important moment in Cerasis Quest.

An annoying part of Cerasis Quest is a banner ad that stays at the top of the screen throughout the game. This distracts people from following along with the story and as Cerasis Quest is a very story intensive game, ads harm the overall fun of the game.

Cerasis Quest is free on the App Store and not recommended as the story is currently short, and some of the mini games do not live up to their potential.
