Google Engineer Creates Sci Fi like Smart Mirror

Up until this point, I had never come across a smart device for the home that seemed necessary, but someone at Google changed that. Max Braun, who had a goal of creating the perfect smart device invented a mirror that should be a fixture in every home, especially since having the Internet inside your pocket is not sufficient. Are these mirrors a thing of the future? Probably not, but they are sure great to look at.

To be perfectly clear – the idea of a smart mirror is not new, and Braun is happy to admit that he has found plenty of inspiration on the Web. Even so, this is one of the most beautiful ones I have seen, and it should be a fixture in Google's smart home offerings. If they decide not to offer the mirror, they should consider adding something that constantly displays Google Now cards. It can be like a visual Echo people can speak with and see things like traffic and weather.

The end result of Braun's hard work looks unreal, and he has acknowledged that it took a lot of mistakes to get things right. But take a look at it. It looks incredible! I have never considered purchasing another mirror until now.

Braun has mentioned that the UI will not have much color unless it is cloudy, but that the icons and text are monochrome so users are not very distracted by them.

He has stated that he is still tinkering around with the UI and layout, but he is using easy Google APIs that can display anything that happens to have a Google Now card. Everything is hands-free and it automatically updates over the course of the day. All users need to do is sit back and marvel at how cool it looks.

There are some tutorials available if you would like to build your own, but none of them will help you create anything as nice. Braun has said that he is thinking of writing his own tutorial with pictures, but for the time being you can take a look at the back of the mirror to determine what materials he used.
