4 Snapchat Tricks from the Snapchat Masters

Snapchat, a mobile photo messaging and sharing app launched in 2011, has captured the attention of many people. Now, it rivals Facebook in terms of the number of views for user videos daily and is labeled as the fastest growing social app.

While Snapchat is a fun app, it's known for having a slightly confusing UI, casually slipping in new features and hiding these additions in random setting locations. Therefore, it's highly possible that you've used the app for quite some time and still miss using a few filter or text tricks. To help you have a better Snapchat experience, here are some tips from the pros.

1. Text —Adding Lines and Changing Text Sizes

Have you reached the character limit? If you're normal Snapchat user, you would probably edit the text; however, there's a way for you to circumvent this limit. You can add more text by using the Notes app. The Notes app allows you to select a range of blank text. So, you have to copy that blank text to your clipboard, open Snapchat, and paste it into the text of field of a snap.

If you wish to adjust the size of your text, you only have to click the T button and leave the cursor on the field. Then, use your two fingers to zoom in or out the text so as to change its size.

2. Screenshot—Making Copies of Snaps Like a Ninja

Normally, when you screenshot a snap of your friends, they will be notified of your action. However, if you want to get a screenshot without them knowing in Snapchat, you can do one of the following tricks:

  • If you're using an Android phone, make sure you have disabled travel mode first. Then, put it in saver mode. When you receive the snap, do not open it. Instead, swap right to chat and turn off your Wi-Fi. Be quick and open the snap. Take the screenshot and close the app.
  • If you're using an iPhone, connect it to your Mac and open QuickTime Player. Go to Movie Recording and tap the drop down arrow to select your iPhone. Once that's done, you can view your iPhone's display. Go into Snapchat and swipe right to chat. Lastly, open the chat and click the record button on the QuickTime Player.

3. Chat—Video Calling and Recording

With Snapchat 2.0, you can finally have a video call with your friends. All you have to do is to press the camera button, which you can find next to the round button in the middle. However, unlike other platforms, you can send each other text and add a sticker to adorn your virtual self.

4. Filter—Creating and Using Two at the Same Time

Let's admit it. Snapchat has a lot of awesome filters. In fact, its filters are one of the main reasons for its success. However, it's entirely possible that you can't find the exact filter you want from the list that they offer, especially when you are snapchatting about a special event. In this case, you can create your own geofilter by going to the Snapchat website and uploading your own design. That design will be submitted to the Snapchat team and will be duly reviewed.

On the other hand, if you can't decide between a geofilter and a Snapchat photo filter, you can simply choose both. To do so, swipe over the snap as you normally do in order to add the first filter. Then, hold the screen with one of your fingers and swipe the snap with another finger so you can add the second filter.
