  • Why I Think Android Will Dominate The Mobile Market by 2020

In the mobile phone market, Android continues to be a dominant operating system for the mobile industry. Android have developed and maintain a strong presence on the global market. The operating system continues to rise as it market shares increase and others declines such as IOS and Windows. They have attracted consumers from all over the world and quickly became a huge competitor for other mobile operating system. Apple IOS system has lead the mobile market for years but Android has stepped in and became a viable alternative for phone manufacturers. Although Samsung owns 21.4% share of the mobile market as of 2015 Q,iPhone still remains the larger smartphone maker, after shipping 81.3 million smartphones in 2015 . Currently, Android is the world's most used platform for different phone manufacturers. Google bought Android and employed strategies that work favorable for the platform. This has contributed immensely to the success of the Android operating system on the global market. Partnerships One of the distinguished strategies is the partnership with different phone manufacturers such as Samsung, Lenovo and Nexus. The partnership that they have created with different phone manufacturers resulted in different phone devices that consumers can choose from. This worked favorable for Android as consumers can pick and choose different phones brand that they are interested in. They are not just limited to just one brand as is the case with the IOS operating system used by Apple. Budget The Android operating system caters to every consumer's budget. The phone manufacturers that use the Android platform ensures that everyone can afford a smart phone especially the latest brand. These brands include Huawei, Blu and HTC etc. Quality If one desire a luxury phone he or she may purchase the latest Samsung Galaxy that has premium features. Many consumers are attracted by the high-quality smart phone that uses Android operating system such as Samsung. Currently, the best phone on the market is Samsung Galaxy S7. According to Sam Mattera who wrote a brief history on "Android Market Share" stated that Android market share game did not accelerate until Samsung adopted the Android platform. This shows that the partnership with phone manufacturers has contributed to the dominance of Android operating system today. If one phone manufacturer market sales decline this will have a minor impact on Google as they will have other phone manufacturers to rely on their mobile platform. Power Google has a distinct advantage because of the resources that helped with advertising products which resulted in the widespread knowledge of Android phones. Platforms such as YouTube and the most famous search engine Google. If one look at the advertising strategy used by Samsung, it was well implemented by their marketing team using YouTube and google. Marketing is very important for any business and this has worked for Google and their mobile platform. Open source / Updates Samsung and other phone manufacturers are constantly improving their devices to satisfy the mobile consumers, especially Samsung. They are constantly looking for ways to improve the best device that they have to offer. For example, when Apple released iPhone 7, Samsung counteracted that with the release of Samsung Galaxy S7. Samsung looks at what consumers want and gives it to them. Other phone manufacturers using Android operating system continue to improve their devices. This ensures the sales are constant or increasing. Also, while there are common problems between these devices that uses faced everyday , such as "imessage not working" ,iPhone won't connect to Wi-Fi ,iPhone won't charge or even common screen issues .These problems are very prominent. While apple tries to release updates to fix these issues, some of the most common ones are still unresolved. It's also true about android too.Luckily, mobile computing websites such as Technobezz is able to provide helpful guides for these issues. In conclusion, Google mobile platform is dominating the mobile industry and will continue to do so. They have been successfully leading the market since inception and will no doubt continue to dominate the market by 2020. The advertising strategies employed by phone manufacturers has contributed to the success of android , and increased the sales of smartphones using the Android operating system. The different partnerships have also played a vital role in the dominance of the mobile market. Different phone manufacturers provide cheap and premium smartphone for people all over the world. • I Can't Leave My Home Without These Excellent Travel Apps

I used to travel a lot for business and pleasure, especially on my previous job which required many work-related trips. We live in the smart device era and there are thousands of fabulous travel apps that make our lives easier. Before this era started, I often relied on yellow pages to find what I need, from a good restaurant, hotels to veterinarians. It was time-consuming, and it usually involved some additional costs. For example, to book a hotel room, I had to call several hotels until I find the perfect one. Nowadays, with a smartphone or tablet in your hand, you can make everything much easier. All you have to do is to install proper apps on your device. Keep It Simple I know there are many fabulous apps you can find on the App Store for iOS and Google Play if you are using Android device, but you don't have to install a ton of apps. It will be better to simplify everything by choosing the one you really need and the one you will often use. Here are the travel apps on my iPhone. I put them all in a separate folder on my iPhone so that I can find them with ease. The Most-Used: Skyscanner Flight And Skyscanner Hotel I used this app to find the best deals on airplane tickets and hotels. I had this app on my iPhone before I decided to remove it and switched to Kayak. The reason for that was simple. Kayak has 3 different features together in one app while Skyscanner separates them into 3 apps: Skyscanner for flights, hotels, and car rental. So, in order to simplify things a bit, I have chosen Kayak. But, then I found out that Kayak was not as simple as Skyscanner. It has some features which I don't really need, like Flight Tracker feature to track your departure, progress, arrival, and gates for all your flights. So, I removed Kayak and re-installed Skyscanner apps on my iPhone. Besides the simple design, Flights and Skyscanner Hotels are easy to use. Once you launch the Flights app you will find the page to type your destination. On the next page, you have to give some information related to the flight, such as your departure and return date. After you tap the Search button, the flight schedules and prices will appear, so you can choose the perfect one. To go back to the previous page, you can tap the small black arrow in the top-left corner. The Most-Loved: Travel Butler I love this app. Travel Butler is an app designed to help you packing for your journey. Before I found this amazing app, I used to write down all the things I need on a paper, from clothes to important documents especially if it was a business trip. But, Travel Butler will make it much better and easier. That's why I like this app so much. After you launch the app, type your destination, the date of travel, choose your travel purpose (vacation or business), and the app needs to know whether you are a female or male. Let's say I am going to Amsterdam for vacation from March 28 until April 2. I will be directed to the next page where I can see Packing List menu and if I scroll down, I will also see the forecast and other useful information, including Tour & Activities, the Restaurants, Bars & Cafes around, and Sightseeing powered by Foursquare. Tap the Packing List menu and you will find your suitcase lists: Clothing list, Documents, Electronics, Essentials, and Sports. All of these have been selected by Travel Butler based on the information you've given earlier. Off course, you can add the other things to the list. Isn't it amazing? As if I have my own personal assistant. Couchsurfing Couchsurfing is a travel community app. I love this app because I can find the local people in my destination, foremost when I travel alone. There isn't a better advice than the one you'll get from a local. You can post on their local forum and tell them that you are going to visit their city or something like "I will be in this town tomorrow. Does anyone here want to meet up and have a cup of coffee?". You can also find out the local gathering. Usually, they have a routine gathering, monthly or weekly, and the occasional gatherings. Every Couchsurfer is welcome to join the gathering. Moreover, some of them will offer to host the other Couchsurfer. If you are a backpacker or budget traveler this can save some of your money. However, I haven't tried this one because I prefer to stay in the hotel. The Most Essential: Google Maps This app is the most essential. Make sure never to leave your home without this app even if you use a taxi, Uber or a car rental with a driver. It will be very useful if you rent a vehicle and drive it by yourself. I found how useful this app is when I traveled to Bali. In Bali, you have to rent a vehicle - a motorbike or car - for your transportation, because the only public transportation there is a bus, and often you have to wait for too long for the bus to come. So, during my visit to Bali, I rented a motorbike and everything was simple even though that was the first time for me to visit this wonderful place. Here, I found Google Maps very useful.

  • Apple Watch flop: What's A Smartwatch Good For?

Apple Watch got the second ranking as the most popular search on Google for a trending consumer tech 2015 category, and was in the first place as the top luxury watch brand, according to the Netbase survey. Moreover, the user satisfaction score reached 97%, it has beaten iPhone and iPad, according to Apple Watch user research. But, the Slice Intelligent surprised us with their data, which revealed the Apple Watch sales were down 90% since its launch. What makes the Apple Watch flop? Is it a smartwatch that we were looking for? These questions will have various answers. But, I will try to simulate how Apple Watch - as a smartwatch - is used in our daily life, in order to answer the questions. A Morning Routine And A Journey I have set my Apple Watch at night as an alarm while it's charging. In the morning, when its alarm wakes me up, I touch it once to turn it off and get my iPhone to see all the notifications. I start to use Apple Watch when I am about to go to the office. During the home-office journey using a public transportation, I feel vibrations from the device on my wrist, usually SMS and WhatsApp notifications. I will take my iPhone instead of answering it directly through Apple Watch because it's not as comfortable as when using the iPhone. Occasionally, I raise my hand to see the time to make sure I'm not late. See also -Apple has 1 billion active devices In the office, I'm interested in checking the calories that I've burnt. I put my iPhone on my desk and use it to answer my email, to check my Facebook, or else. I don't use my smartwatch to do such things. And then, Apple Watch reminds me not to sit in my chair too long. I love this feature. So, I will get out of my chair and walk around the office to greet my colleagues. When I see the SMS notification, for example, I will take my iPhone to type the answer. At the end of the working day, the device that I wear on my wrist is still useful as a clock to check when the next bus will come. At home, I always want to know how many calories I have burnt. So, I check it on Apple Watch. Then, will remove the device from my wrist and start to relax in my living room with my iPhone around. I will charge the Apple Watch and ensure the alarm has been set properly for tomorrow. During the weekend, if I am home most of the time, I will not wear the Apple Watch but my iPhone will always be around me all the time. From the simulation above, we can see that Apple Watch is more useful for the things associated with the physical body and it is of course, useful as a clock. I will not use it to check the weather, maps, or Instagram through it. I prefer to use iPhone for such things. Apple Watch is a smart device, almost similar to the iPhone in terms of functions. It's like an iPhone in a small form. It has the App Store with all kinds of applications. But, is it really that useful for the users who have the iPhone, considering the fact the iPhone can do it much better? Isn't it useless? Apple Watch as a smartwatch is a device that we attach to our body (wrist). It's connected to our physical body directly through our skin so we can use it all day long. It something that iPhone cannot do. So, this should be its main focus of development. Smartwatch should be a device used to give the best information regarding our physical body, such as heartbeat, the Oxygen level in blood, and so on. Furthermore, a smartwatch can process the data directly and has its own UI, while a health tracker needs a smartphone for its application to process data. That is why smartwatch is better than health tracker. A watch was born to show the time, that's why it's supposed to be the second focus of Apple Watch or any other smartwatch. It also should work as a smart digital assistant, which can be your time manager to remind about certain things when needed, give you directions, and some other things. It needs a smart AI system to know all your activities, schedules, energy, and the challenges you may find. At this point, digital assistant in an Apple Watch will help us a lot because we can feel the notification directly and we can check it ease while our iPhone is always in our pocket or bag. That's my opinion. What's yours?
