Live updates from the Xbox Games Showcase at Summer Game Fest 2025
The showcase will be followed by The Outer Worlds 2 Direct.
Summer Game Fest 2025 is well underway, and if there's one event from the weekend that everyone's sure to be talking about, it's the Xbox Games Showcase. The livestream is scheduled for Sunday, June 8 at 1:00PM ET (10:00AM PT), and you can tune into it on the Xbox YouTube channel or Twitch, where ASL interpretation will be provided. Immediately after the Xbox showcase, there will be a separate presentation dedicated entirely to The Outer Worlds 2. You can watch both the Xbox Games Showcase and The Outer Worlds 2 Direct using the embedded stream below when it goes live. Our reporters on the ground, Jessica Conditt and Mat Smith, will be giving live updates in our liveblog below.
Last year's showcase brought us news about the upcoming Fable reboot (since delayed until 2026), the next entry in the Gears of War series, Gears of War: E-Day, the recently released Doom: The Dark Ages and much more. We may hear some fresh updates about those first two titles on Sunday, and possibly more about others like Everwild, State of Decay 3, Hideo Kojima's OD and Contraband. And of course, some new titles are likely to make their debut too.
You can catch up here on everything we've seen at Summer Game Fest 2025, and follow along when the event begins for our on-the-ground coverage.

And we're on to the Outer Worlds 2 stream, so all of us on the ground at Summer Game Fest Play Days are going to go play some games! Thanks for hanging out with us during the Xbox stream.
-
That was... not Silksong.
-
They got us good.
-
All of that for... Call of Duty 7!
-
Oh shit, his world turns upside down and gets dark and demonic, covered in intestine-like tentacles. The butterfly is crushed in an old man's hand! Oh my god. It's Call of Duty. Black Ops 7.
-
A butterfly motif introduces us to a talking robot in a futuristic, white-walled world. Is that Milo Ventimiglia? Looks like it. Fancy future stuff incoming!
-
"Welcome to the guild" — anyone guessed it yet?
-
One more world premiere! Let's go.
-
Oh hi, Phil Spencer. Let's hear at least one more thing from you.
-
Keeper, coming October 17 to Xbox and PC. This definitely isn't Robert Eggers' Lighthouse, but it might be close? Either way, looks great.
-
We're seeing a walking lighthouse in a gorgeous 3D landscape, exploring caves dotted with glowing plants and fabulous alien worlds.
-
Is Double Fine making new games again? I'd be stoked to see it.
-
And Final Fantasy XVI is out today, so if you've got nothing else planned this Sunday...
-
We're barrelling through all the Final Fantasy announcements for Xbox. Remake Integrade is on the way, as is FFXVI
-
Coming 2026 to Xbox, PC and PS5.
-
Invincible VS., a 3-on-3 tag fighting game. Neat!
-
World fucking premiere, the announcer says this time. Skybound and Quarter Up are here with a trailer for an Invincible game, it seems. It's violent!
-
Yo ho ho and a Sea of Thieves trailer for Smuggler's Tide, the game's 17th season.
-
A lot of us here at Engadget are giddy about the P4 remake.
-
Persona 4 Revival! Hitting Xbox, PC and PS5 eventually.
-
Gears of War: Reloaded will arrive on August 26, btw.
-
Gears of War time. A remaster of the original adventure, with split-screen coop and upgraded visuals. Welcome to Gears of War Reloaded.
-
At Fate's End is coming 2026 to Xbox Series X/S, PC and PS5, featuring gorgeous hand-drawn art and an epic family story.
-
The Spiritfarer team, Thunder Lotus, is back with a new, fantastical side-scrolling action game.
-
Mmm, love that CKY on the soundtrack.
-
And that was a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle skating.
-
Tony Haw's Pro Skater 3+4 is a thing and Tony Hawk himself wants you to play it. That's rad.
-
Look, another game that's not Pokemon! What is this one? Aniimo, coming 2026.
-
How the hell do they make anime tie-in games so quickly? That one is coming 2026.
-
It's an anime tie-in! An SGF tradition!
-
Another world premiere, Solo Leveling Arise Overdrive. Yes, those words in that order.
-
At SGF 2025 in person, there's a very depressing paddling pool filled with plastic fish to promote the new fishing activities of Fallout 76. Bag a fish and you win a poster. Thrills!
-
Fallout fishing break! A good time to refresh your water cup, perhaps.
-
Fallout 76 has a fishing game, and Bethesda really wants you, me and everyone to know about it.
-
-
Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf is due out in 2026, coming to like every platform.
-
This next game is going to break my heart, I can tell.
-
It's a little bit Metal Gear, a little bit Deus Ex, and a little bit Resident Evil? I don't hate it. Coming 2026 to Xbox, PC and PS5.
-
This looks like Mudang: Two Hearts.
-
... and it's coming in 2026
-
This game looks pretty slick, actually! There are No Ghosts at the Grand, it's a musical and magically surreal mystery game with paranormal aspects and interior decorating mechanics. It comes from English indie studio Friday Sundae.
-
Talking cats, more songs, a gun mod that can spit books. I'm intrigued. It's called...
-
Renovation tools, spray guns, wallpaper strippers and a mystery about someone's missing dad. Hello, games for midlife crisis millennials.
-
Next world premiere? A hotel... musical?
-
The trailer shows a woman in an orange space suit attempting to survive on an icy alien planet and find her companion. It's called Aphelion, coming 2026.
-
Don't Nod, the studio best known for Life is Strange, is making a realistic, third-person, 3D sci-fi action game. Dang, that's pretty neat.
-
This ESO teaser seems be pushing the notion of making your own story and tale within the Elder Scrolls universe — a new season lands June 18
-
World premiere, the booming announcer voice says.
-
Every Xbox show needs an Elder Scrolls Online break, and now is that time.
-
Hell yeah, Bloober Team time. This is the studio that did the fabulous Silent Hill 2 remake for Konami recently, and they're working on this Dead Space-esque horror shooter, Cronos: The New Dawn. Coming fall 2025. Hot.
-
Grounded 2 is coming July 29, surprise!
-
One of those studios is Obsidian, and they're back with a new Grounded game!
-
Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty is here now to talk about how much Microsoft loves all of the studios it owns.
-
-
Only Xbox could take a studio renowned for stunningly well-written RPGs and end up with an FPS.
-
Last time we wrote about this? 2023.
-
This looks... really cool? I did not know what to expect out of inXile when it comes to FPS games, but I'm digging the look of Clockwork Revolution.
-
Clockwork Revolution is a steampunky RPG with time travel, guns and realistic pants-peeing action, if this latest trailer is anything to go by.
-
It's kinda unclear what kind of game Clockwork Revolution will be, although expect discussion trees, shenanigans and violence.
-
-
Clockwork Revolution is next up! From inXile Entertainment, the Wasteland studio.
-
Beast of Reincarnation is coming in 2026, and it looks like a beautiful action game.
-
This next trailer comes from Game Freak but it's... not Pokemon.
-
A new adventure is on its way. Indie will explore Rome, find a secret relic, and probably use a whip. Yep, Xbox just announced the first chunk of Indiana Jones DLC, The Order of Giants, and it's coming September 4 2025
-
September 4, hang out with the big bois and Indy.
-
Microsoft would like to remind you that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a fun game with a fantastic performance by Troy Baker. And there's DLC! The Order of Giants.
-
Indiana Jones, again.
-
Ninja Gaiden 4 is coming October 21 and it looks like a violent mess. I mean that in the best way possible.
-
Look at that little square blob of meat go, he's so strong. Super Meat Boy 3D is coming early 2026 and it looks like a lovely little slice of chaos, as always.
-
Meat Boy! In 3D!
-
Coming 2026, apparently — Xbox, PC and PS5.
-
Dang, I love vampires. This looks dark and bloody, I dig it.
-
We're back to the games. First up: Rebel Wolves.
-
The Blood of Dawnwalker from Rebel Wolves and Bandai Namco is our next trailer. Dark medieval fantasy, let's go.
-
-
A deeper dive now on the ROG Xbox Ally, teasing that all the games shown during the Xbox Games Showcase will play on the handheld. The device will land during this year's holiday season in two different flavors. ROG Xbox Ally: "The essential handheld" and the ROG Xbox Ally X, apparently "the ultimate high-performance handheld, built for the most demanding players."
-
SILKSONG MENTION ALERT. But it was just the fact that it'll be on the Xbox Ally this year. Stand down.
-
Now that all the cartoonish alien silliness is out of the way, it's a handheld console, but not one built by Xbox. The ROG Xbox Ally comes in two flavors this holiday.
-
After High on Life 2 (coming this winter) we also saw the next chapter of A Plague Tale, Resonance.
-
On to the next trailer! High on Life 2 is coming, from the Rick and Morty guy's studio, Squanch Games.
-
Just in time for Halloween, I guess?
-
October 29!
-
Will it include a release date? Let's find out together.
-
Here we go! The show begins with an Outer Worlds 2 trailer, ahead of the full OW2 stream after this one.
-
Don't forget the irradiated fish! Microsoft's big setup at Summer Game Fest Play Days is a fishing experience with the Fallout 76 team, in celebration of the Gone Fission update that rolled out earlier this month. Please, won't someone think of the radioactive fish.
-
... And then, of course. There's Hollow Knight: Silksong. There's always Silksong.
-
As for what we're expecting today... we'd put good money on updates about Gears of War: E-Day, Arkane's Blade game, and Playground's Fable reboot. We know Hideo Kojima is in town, so some more info on that OD game he's making for Xbox would be nice too. After that it becomes a bit of a free for all. There are some long-in-development first-party titles like Everwild, Clockwork Revolution and Perfect Dark, and some reasonably strong rumors around a Persona 4 remake that might show up. Of course, there's always the small issue of Elder Scrolls VI, which we've heard nothing about in half a decade, and that rumored handheld console.
-
It's been a pretty good year for Microsoft so far, with the Avowed and Doom: The Dark Ages being great, the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake selling well, and and some of its third-party "Day One on Game Pass" bets like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Blue Prince really hitting the mark. Amid all that, though, the company was forced to raise prices on its consoles, and has continued to bring its games to other consoles. Forza Horizon 5 hit PS5 back in April, and Gears of War is coming this summer. While that's great news for Microsoft's bottom line, it definitely dilutes the appeal of its own consoles.
-
We'll get things started properly closer to 1PM ET, when the show is scheduled to begin.
