Dojo update: Fox's Misfortune
Today, the dojo reveals a new Adventure Mode in Fox's Misfortune. Based on the video above, it looks like Fox crashes his Arwing and finds Diddy in trouble with some long, snake-like creature. Of course, being the hero he is, Fox saves Diddy and, we assume, embarks on a quest to do some more good. Honestly, the trailer is great and all, but we have no idea what this mode will consist of.%Gallery-6869%%Gallery-3347%
Dojo update: Classic mode
Today's update over at the dojo involves Classic Mode, the formal single player campaign of the game where you progress through various stages, battling random enemies until you reach the end. The matches can vary in that sometimes you'll fight opponents who are metal or giant, and occasionally you'll have teammates. The stages chosen are the same every time, however, as stage 1 is Link's and stage 3 is Pokemon, etc.%Gallery-6869%%Gallery-3347%
Super Odd Chrono Snatcher: Your choices for DS remakes
DS Fanboy readers have excellent taste, and we all know it. After all, you own the greatest handheld in the world, and hey, you're here. But if that's not enough to convince you, then the winners of the recent most-desired remakes poll should do the trick nicely. DS Fanboy readers chose four very different titles as candidates for the rampant remake craze, and each game has the potential to be a fantastic DS game in its own right. Let's just hope the right people are paying attention.Out of a field of seventeen titles, all chosen by the readers, Chrono Trigger, Snatcher, Super Smash Bros. and Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee were selected as the best choices for future DS titles. Now we're here to tell you why.
Poll results: Remakes of choice
Our celebration of the age of remakes continues as we reveal your choices for games that need to be given the DS treatment. The full poll results are located after the jump, but we probably don't need to tell you that we chose correctly when putting together the boxart mockups above. Chrono Trigger blew everything else out of the water among the mainstream titles, with Super Smash Bros. picking up a distant second. Among our lesser-known titles, things were a lot closer. Snatcher won -- which means all is right with the world -- but the battle for second was decided by a mere four votes. We're always happy to be reminded of just how diverse taste are among our readers!Check back later in the week for a wealth of coverage on remakes, including the profile of the four winning games and what we would like to see in a DS remake.
DS Fanboy poll: Remakes of choice
Earlier this week, we asked you, our dear readers, to discuss games you'd like to see given a spit and a polish for the DS in this age of remakes, and as usual, you came through in a big way. In fact, you gave us so many fantastic suggestions that we've decided to split our selected list into two polls instead of just doing one. We can't include everything suggested, obviously, but we've prepared a selection of bigger releases and more obscure titles, and we're going to let you vote every day, just in case you want to throw your support behind more than one game. Once you've voted, we will profile the top two results from each poll and examine exactly why they would be well-suited to our favorite handheld. So try to vote for the titles you think are the most suitable, those that would most benefit from the kind of treatment we're seeing with the Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy titles ... and hey, vote for the games you'd just like to see in portable form as well. And if you just can't decide ... well, that's why we're letting you vote more than once! You can vote your heart and your brain, and the cream will rise to the top.
Dojo update: Lylat Cruise stage revealed
While battling atop space ships in the Lylat system is nothing new to the Smash Bros. franchise, the revised stage looks a lot better. Now, the ship warps to different sectors, making its way through epic space battles and even the atmosphere of Corneria. Heck, maybe we won't be battling exclusively in Hyrule anymore, with such a promising looking stage as this.Check out all of the new Lylat Cruise stage images in the gallery below.%Gallery-3347%
Wii Warm Up: The slow reveal of Smash Bros.
After a ton of buildup, the Super Smash Bros. Brawl website began updating this week, which is exciting in principle. The actual content of the updates, however ... well, let's just say we had already guessed that Mario and Link will be in the game. Today we get a small amount of news about a new item-- a Gooey Bomb that sticks to opponents. The whole development cycle has been like this-- we've gotten very little information of any kind about this game except what we already know (for example, the rules of Smash Bros.) It's kind of a tease. Of course, this just serves to build up anticipation of the final product.Would you rather get a huge blowout of info all at once, or do you enjoy letting the excitement build as you're fed tiny little morsels of information one by one? If you don't feel like talking about that, we suppose we could talk about the Gooey Bomb. One warning, though-- we've heard enough about banning items from "serious play" for one lifetime.
Today's hand-drawn video: Super Smash Bros.
It's cute, it's simple, and it's better than a slew of video games we've been playing lately. We give you Super Smash Bros., in hand-drawn animation. A sweeping cinematic score only underlines the awesomeness of this fine video.Nintendo, if you want to save some money, get someone on this project, pronto. Release it, rake in the dough, and we'll have something to tide us over until the real game comes out. Trust us. Make sure you watch until the very ... end?
Nintendo World tour stocked with 88 titles
Nintendo World 2006 kicks off to tomorrow in Nagoya, Japan; making stops in Osaka and Tokyo later this month. The exhibition brings with it 88 titles, split evenly between Wii and DS.Visitors can expect the usual unusual assortment of "games" from Nintendo's vault, including an encyclopedia and healthy eats recipe collection. The rest of the lineup is mostly familiar, but there will be some significant debuts; the first level of (and possibly a new character from) Super Smash Bros Brawl among them. There are also plans to show off the Mii channel. Some new DS oddities have been unearthed as well, notably Picross DS ("paint by numbers"), 100 Poems by 100 Poets: DS Shigureden (presumably based on the art exhibit in Kyoto), DS Bimoji Training (Japanese calligraphy), and Namco Bandai's Mojipittan DS, a version of the popular fast-paced word puzzler.
WWE fused with Super Smash Bros: it ain't pretty [update 2]
What do you get when you stretch the skins of characters from Super Smash Bros. over wrestlers from WWE Smackdown!? A disturbingly compelling game along with a pimped out Mario, that's what. Watch as Mario and chums perform maneuvers from head slams to full frontal kicks in the face. There's even a Solid Snake cameo! Just don't show this thing to your kids, they'll never want to play a Mario game again. And yes, that pink fat dude is Kirby. Weiiird.Who's gonna be the next victim of pimp my video game?Update: the video has been removed from YouTube. Apparently it violated their copyright rules. If anyone can find the real video online then let us know and we'll update the post.Update 2: the video is back up, with no explanation as to why it went down. Check it out after the jump.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl, see it for yourself
After last's night Super Smash Bros. Brawl unveiling, Nintendo dropped a media disc on us that was supposed to house the Brawl teaser trailer. Yeah, well, it was done broke. But we did snag a bunch of pretty - too pretty, if you ask us - screenshots off of the thing before we tossed it. Have a look.
