Gigabyte g-X5 triband slider

Gigabyte G-X5

PC maker Gigabyte announced plans back in April to jump into the cellphone market, and yesterday saw the official release of their first contestant, the g-X5 slider handset. It's a triband unit with a 1 megapixel camera and miniSD slot. It's not rocking Bluetooth, but it does sport a couple of unique features: a tri-axis motion sensing feature allows interaction with games by merely moving the device in your hand, and a POI (points of interest) feature integrates maps with places of interest, restaurants and tour routes — though the phone is intended for the Taiwanese market, so the POI is probably only useful in that locale. It's available there now for about $410-450 retail.
