Nintendo's Wii: opened up the easy way, and the hard way
While a few zany folks preferred to mindlessly operate on a PlayStation 3 without any tact whatsoever, the steady-handed folks over at Popular Science went by the books when they gingerly took apart Nintendo's latest. But alas, not everyone is so gentle (or considerate) when it comes to enjoying new toys, and the folks over at SmashMyWii shaved a few minutes off their uncasing time by going at it with a large foreign object instead of a minuscule screwdriver. We're reserving comment on which method we prefer most, but we do applaud both the tender care and rage expressed in each unique scenario. Nevertheless, snagging a Wii should've been slightly (and slightly we stress) easier than dodging bullets or quitting your job in order to (hopefully) get a PS3, but we're sure there's still quite a few of us sitting home empty handed -- so if you're craving an inside look at the Wii which you don't yet have (or don't want to dissect yourself), be sure to hit the read link for some well-captured Wii pr0n, and peek after the break for the painfully humorous slaughtering.

I want a Wii, and I stood in line, but there weren't enough :'(
AFK @ Nov 19th 2006 5:42PM
nice, tho the PS3 and 360 lasted a bit longer

"He needs to get laid, fast" - That's rich coming from a guy who spent the entire night in the freezing cold waiting for a freakin' games console.
Matt Y @ Nov 19th 2006 11:41PM
easlip?
Brian @ Nov 19th 2006 5:51PM
well, people seemed to go be more 'ok' with seeing their Wii being whacked then the PS3 fans did.
I do like the Mario theme though, it's creative in a meaninglessly destructive way...
Silver R. Wolfe @ Nov 19th 2006 6:18PM
Wow, the PS3 was more durable than the Wii!?
INSANE!

"Smash My Wee Dot Com."
Doesn't even need a comment.

Hum I don't like the idea of smashing my Wii, seems like it would hurt too much. But these guys had fun I guess, they beat their Wii a few times but it looks like the climax came really early.
gerbick @ Nov 19th 2006 6:48PM
The "Smash My " people... it's no longer amusing. In fact, I'd love it if they were just ignored. Nothing fascinating about it.
Sorta like watching Urkel when he got older trying to still do the voice. He was trying to entertain us... but he didn't do so well in the end.
Let it go. Stop covering them.

I got a wii!! I showed up at best buy at 6:00AM There were 64 consoles and me and my two friends were, 56 57 58. WHOO HOO. The wii is awesome.
humpty @ Nov 19th 2006 7:36PM
For their next smash, they should buy a Kia, pack all their friends in, and wrap it around a street pole. The only downside is that they are in Canada, and so the taxpayers would end up paying their medical bills.

Coming soon.... SmashMyKia.com.

That is probably the most idiotic thing I have ever seen. This is the reason why some people should not procreate. I could care less for the Wii or the PS3 or whatever the F is the "in" system now, but it's just retarded to buy a unit and smash it in front of other idiots with obviously a low mental capacity.
Fvcking nerds.
NeoteriX @ Nov 19th 2006 10:28PM
Agreed. The whole "Smash my x" is really getting played out. It would have been more of a fun prank to just have the guy 'accidentally' break it, tripping or something and having it fly into the middle of the road as someone runs over it.

can u configure the wiimote for left handed users? for games like bowling and tennis it matters if you're left handed!
ceege @ Nov 20th 2006 5:21PM
Yes, you can configure the wiimote to be a lefty or a righty...
Matt @ Nov 20th 2006 2:01PM
What I find annoying about this sort of thing is, whilst these guys just waste some of their money there are probably some kids out there who either a) couldn't get one because they went out of stock, or b) cant afford one.
Maybe some kid is going to be disappointed this christmas now because of this? Maybe not - who knows.
l_chupacabras @ Nov 22nd 2006 10:41AM
They really should've tried to plug that in and play it, with the way Nintendo builds their stuff I wouldn't be surprised if it at least turned on.
Gunn Salelanonda @ Nov 30th 2006 5:07PM
Waste is truly the disease of the first world. While it may be bad that I paid $250 for some frivolous toy when I could have fed a village or two in Africa, IMO it's far worse that these clowns just decided to piss that money away.
