Mr. Blurrycam reveals the updated MacBook Pro, $899 laptop model shows up in Apple inventory systems (Updated)

Update: Our source just hit us with another pic, this time from the side -- it's after the break. We're also told that there's not one, but two NVIDIA GPUs inside --
Update 2: Our source just hit us again to say that it's two full-on NVIDIA GPUs -- sounds like a hybrid SLI setup to us, which is pretty wild. Wilder still, they say the MacBook and 17-inch MacBook Pro aren't getting refreshed tomorrow, which we find hard to believe, but we'll see when we see.
Update 3: John Gruber over at Daring Fireball, the first to accurately predict today's launch event, has confidentally chimed in with many more details. The button-less trackpad is indeed glass, and "is a button itself" which opens the door for a few hours of trouser-heated speculation about the trackpad doubling as a BlackBerry Storm-like display (Gruber doesn't say and it doesn't appear to be in that image above so don't count on it). Gruber also claims that none of the new laptops will reach the rumored $899 price point -- the part number spotted earlier seems to be associated with a new 24-inch LED Apple Cinema Display with DisplayPort according to MacRumors, not a low-end MacBook. To support this, Gruber says that the aluminum MacBooks will indeed be announced in $1,299 (2GHz, 2GB memory, 160GB disk) and $1,499 (2.4GHz, 2GB memory, 250GB disk) configs and will ship by the end of the week along with new 120GB HDD and 128GB SSD configurations of the MacBook Air. While CPU clocks will remain pretty much the same, all new MacBooks -- regular, Pro, and Air -- will feature the new NVIDIA 9400M GPU -- the 15-inch MacBook Pro (the 17-inch will remain unchanged albeit with 4GB of memory and bigger 320GB disk) will feature a second 9600M GT GPU making it a true graphics powerhouse as previously speculated. Lastly, the current 2.1GHz white MacBook remains in the line-up but will be cut to $999.

Seriously. Why can't people learn to focus their darn cameras?!
It looks like a Dell :-| I never understood the transition to black plastic on metal.

Forget the buttons, am I the only one to observe that only the laptop is blurry while the surroundings are not?
the background is sharp and the laptop is blured because the shot is out of focus basic photography mate
It looks like a pc now... Dell, HP...
Guys remember when JR post the photos if iPod nano all folks say this is cheap chinese mp3 player but what happen when Steve take out the same iPod from his pocket ? I think this is the new MacBookS like it or not!
This
Gloss only would suck. No 17" (as Daring Fireball claims) would also suck (as I have been waiting 12 months for a reworking before plunging to replace my G5 rev A powerpc).
The $899 line is most likely to be a new monitor IMO.
I can see the iPhone success bleeding across here - touch screen could be added in Snow Leopard if the screen is touch capable now...?
'I "hate" my old yellow MacBook Pro'
Yeah, it's got the useless reflective screen and all, so now you can't use it in bright rooms or out door clearly demonstrated in the first image.. Yeah, that's the one. *sigh* I really look forward to this though :)
I don't get it i have a laptop with a glossy screen and its not as horrible as everyone is making it out to be..
>update3
well...everything is said. Why did you tell us everything ? What are we gonna do now
shit, I prefer the 24 teasing, it lasts longer :)
there is no such thing as a new discrete 9400M GPU.
These lappies use a 9100M chipset, then you add a 9600M GT for the higher-end MacBook Pros or the 9300M G / 9200M GS for the cheaper ones, in order to get it called a 9400M.
the 9300M and 9200M are 16 and 8 unified shader GPUs.

(click on specifications to look at the details)
Also, the 9600M GT plus the 9100M *won't* be Hybrid SLI, just Hybrid Power, meaning you get better battery life but not better performance. You get to switch between the IGP and the GPU.
I don't get what the "awe" factor is as the current MacBook Pros use 8600M GTs, and the 9600M GT is basically the next step...
Man I hope Gruber is wrong about the prices. Terrible.
"What is so bad about a glossy screen for prof. designers/photographers/multimedia people? Can someone explain it to me without personal attacks, please?"
The reason 'pros' don't like glossy screens is that they are afraid that the colour information they are seeing is not accurate. i.e. The gloss makes the colours richer, which means when they adjust the colours to what they intend on a the richer system, and export their file, other people will see the colours duller than they intended. Only people who are very careful about what colour values they are going for will worry about this (thus -- the pros).
However, this is an overcomplained issue. The fact is, there are ways of measuring and calibrating your system's colour response, no matter what screen it has, and the pros should know this. There is nothing about a glossy screen that should prevent you from calibrating it like any other. But if you aren't going calibrate it, and you are going to make fine colour adjustments (an odd mix of pro and non-pro behaviours), in THAT case, your adjustments will probably come out duller than you expected (on paper or on matte screens).
does anyone notice how thick the top left border is around the glass and how thin it is around the top right? bad photoshop of an imac, macbook pro,and the macbook air keyboard
still hoping that $899 item is a laptop
look closer, then you see it is a motion blur!
ajajajajaj ! a glossy screen ! no glossy screen on pro books, please Steve !!!
No Firewire! How am I going to sync my antique first and second gen iPods now?!
I`m disappointed after so long waiting to see this crap!
So you guys are saying, with the third update, that the new mid-priced MacBooks ($1299) will have a slower GHz than the $999 MacBooks? That's weird. You should fix that.
Yeah agree with you that is impossible or if is im gonna buy some other shit!!!
Speakers? Same place?
NVIDIA stuff makes sense since Adobe announced that photoshop is finally using GPUs.
Can't wait to run over to the Apple Store to get my new MacBook Pro! :-)
Slow it down there itchy pajamas. Its just a laptop.
There are two strange things about the display bezel in this photo.
First, the silver, outer bezel, is clearly narrower on the right than the left. Perspective would account for a slight difference of that sort, but clearly not to the degree shown. Plus, the silver bezel appears ghosted on the left and top right. Does this suggest a photoshopped image?
Second, note that that's not an image on a turned-on computer, in the display: It's reflection. But the reflection extends beyond the display area and onto the black bezel. Is it possible that not only the screens, but the black bezel as well, are going to be glossy in the new MBs? Seems like that would be a distraction.
I hadn't seen any comments on these two aspects of the photo. Reactions, anyone?
It's not narrower, you can see cables through the blur on the left, so it's not wider.
considering thats exactly what the MBP now looks like- nice photoshop guess
Looks a lot like a 'shop. Discolored splotches that blurrycam can't hide, and the horrible fitment of the lid to the base. It looks like it's a few mm too large.
That doesn't mean there's not some accurate inspiration here. I believe you'll see the black bezel and a latchless lid (like current macbooks). Oh, and prepare yourself for typing on black chiclets.
I suggest that everyone save the image to your desktop and zoom in on the top corners of the screen. You can tell that this has been photoshopped!!
Shame it is actually quite nice.
Found some new case shots on macx.cn as well.

I really don't understand the pics in the Chinese site.
What is that small "thing" in the middle of the macs?
What does that lock do?
MacBook Air with 128GB SSD & NVIDIA 9400M???? Im buying THAT over the Pro if that truly is the next Pro in that screenshot.
I'm not sure why they didn't up the clock speed, but if I'm getting 9400 graphics for that price, I'm a happy fella. I'm glad they stuck with keeping the price low, now I can go to school AND pay for a laptop! :O
The brick is a docking station.
I purchased a 15" MBP back in June knowing that Apple was in the midst of refreshing their Macbook Line. The new design really does not impress, instead it takes away the genuine taste of Apple products. The only performance difference is the new NVIDIA chipset and video card(s). I would wait for a year for the next refresh to come. At the meantime, I have a good 3-year warranty so I can do pretty much anything to get it replaced if I want. Lol. I wonder how the design differs from the current MBP. It sure looks more fragile to me. Is Apple hoping to address the heating issue? Who knows, lol.
SLI? Great too bad there are like 2 games for mac. Useless.
When does this Apple Event begin?
10 am?
yes 10am
crap
Who is J.R. ? Is he our Apple Spy?
boo for glossy screen on the pros. booooo!
no button? hmmm... let's hope 4 some smart solution 4 working under xp on macbook pro (specific cad programs 4 example)
Apple can hit the $899 price poit if they leave the white MacBook in the range at $999. When you apply an education discount that usually works out at $899.
Whoa, no button for the touch pad? I remember engadget posting an article that says Apple patented a pressure sensitive touch screen. People think this is going to be applied to the iPhone but I think it will be applied to the new touch pad. I cant imagine double tapping or having one giant button. Apple always does a good job.
Can you say "haptic"?
Ah, this is surely a fake picture!!!
So are they selling this laptop for $899 for real?
the entire trackpad clicks down, kind of like the touchscreen blackberry, the entire glass surface of the trackpad depresses allowed you to get an actual click
Sorry but that pic is fake, I just saw few hours ago, photos ofreal MacBook Pro from friend of mine who is working on Design. And btw the room in first picture is very familiar to me I just can't remember where I saw same celing with that light....
< 4 M.H bijooch :)
Don't ask me for picture, not sharing not leaking, nor I have ownership of photos...
