HTC Supersonic meets Mr. Blurrycam, leaves us wanting more (video)
Being drip-fed information on the HTC Supersonic is unlikely to be as pleasant an experience as actually having one, but it's all we can do to fill the time until this beast of a phone finally makes its official debut (probably on Sprint). Today's appearance shows what looks to be a majorly insecure Mr. Blurrycam sporting gloves and gingerly handling a handset purporting to be HTC's latest and greatest. We're mostly treated to a sight of the back, which is white as our first (and most trusted) tipster had seen, and gives us a grainy first look at the camera and speaker grill arrangement. Check out the video after the break. As a bonus, we've found another source for the earlier Supersonic video -- you know, the one that got yanked from YouTube twice -- and have embedded it as well, go get them both while they're still around.

why is there a 720p option for that second video?
@glenskey he/she is trying to waste our precious bandwidth.
@glenskey I hope this phone comes to europe.
@glenskey So that you see all the blurry pixels in all their glory.
I hope this comes out before WiMax fails
the second video is of the htc incredible. different phone
Why must these videos always be like the person taking the video is a stalker?
@Keegsta Because they're probably in a top-secret area with the phone, and they're trying to film it covertly to evade tight restrictions.
@Keegsta
Since they are prototypes the people filming them have to protect their identity from being fired. Or worse in some cases.

Sprint? Share the love, HTC.
The second video is clearly the Incredible as it has a navigation touchpad/trackball, which the Supersonic lacks.
But good to see the Supersonic alive an kicking. I started thinking that the early leaks were fakes.
cant wait to get ahold of this baby!
I'd love to see a leak of the HTC WinPho7 lineup
Recorded using iPhone ?
@Nokia N900
and then sent tethered via stevies mom
omg omg omg omg omg its COMING SOON!!!!
please please please please please be released before june.
did i say please ;)
so basically is this a HD2 phone thats running on Android instead of WM? just curious
@garfieldfriends
those are the rumors at least.
same nice big screen, although apparently OLED.
bit bigger battery (longer life)
and maybe some other tiny improvements as its a year after the HD2.
let's hope good quality camera lens and video recording too ;)
@garfieldfriends
And WIMAX :)
I hope this "supersonically" makes my Sprint stock go up...
...and motivates Palm to get a 4G phone out that'll blow peoples faces off. Just sayin'
i wonder if that can go in my pocket. if not ill be happy to just hold it in my arms all day
Don't you HTC/android fans get annoyed that they put out a new phone every month ?
@appleipad and a different version of android for each one..
Your name doesn't show your loyalty... nah..
@benny90 Annoyed? More like excited. It's great to see that the user has many selections of Android form factors (Keyboard, no keyboard, small screen, large screen, low price point, high price point, different carriers, various features, etc.). You also see innovations being added to smartphones at an unprecedented rate.
If you have demoed Android on multiple handsets you'd see that all configurations operate pretty much the same - unless a custom interface was added (Like Motoblur or Sense, which you can always turn off.) The different resolution screens scale quite nicely as well.
@appleipad
Why would you get annoyed at the advancement of technology and the progression of a budding OS? It's allowing more choices for the user.
@Accidental you forgot to mention a different version of Android on each of these phones. Oh wait thats not a benefit to anyone is it.
my sprint hero just got a hard-on
Is that a 3.7" or a 4.3" screen??
@Siddharth
Supersonic is 4.3" That's a major factor for me. It's also OLED.
Snapdragon inside (i wouldnt say no to tegra2 but ya'know)
720p recording pretty please
As said above good lens,camera
USB Host and optional detachable clip-on usb keyboard...
@Siddharth 4.3
So basically, take a gorgeous looking WM phone, make it more cartoonish looking, and it's the next high-end Android?
Why HTC? Who at HTC convinced the designers that Android phones can't look as elegant as WM phones?
@TareG
I'm sure it'll be out in black as well.
@TareG Looks are the last on my list. It's a phone, not a purse.
Geez...
@TareG
Personally I always liked the way the original Touch HD looked over the HD2. I noticed the trend of making Android phones less elegant looking than WM ones but honestly, I don't think the Supersonic looks cartoony in any way.

It looks very similar to a phone HTC would build for WM to me. The circular buttons set it apart from other phones that just have capacitive icons or hardware ones like the HD2. Otherwise, the phone looks pretty good to me. If you're talking about the white back, well, the iPhone has a white back too. Nothing to get worked up over.
@Accidental funny
*squirt*
Ill switch to Sprint the day this comes out. Anyone else with me?
@Curler I'll finally decide not to leave Sprint the day this comes out. Close enough?
@jstraw Why do you want to leave?
@Curler
I already did (from Verizon) when the Hero came out, haven't looked back. But I'll buy this phone once my year is up... another perk of Sprint, they let you buy subsidized phones after only a year.
@Curler
Aren't they the only carrier losing customers?
@jaffreywali
Not really- Sprint has been on an ever increasing trend (each quarter they lose fewer and fewer, las quarter they only lost 69,000 customers which on a customer base of 48 million is pretty much break even) vs. T-Mobile's gains ever decreasing. Based on T-mobile's trend they will likely go negative with customer adds in Q3 2010.

Am I the only who is stuck in a 2-year contract with a prohibitively expensive early-termination fee? I'm on Verizon and my prorated ETF is currently $330.
I keep hearing about people who switch from iPhone to the G1 to the Pre (when it was on Sprint) to the Motorola Droid to the Nexus One, all within a span of months, but always discussing the low, 2-year contract pricing.
Are you guys all just buying these at their ridiculous $500+ out-of-contract pricing or are you all eating up the $300+ ETF for switching carriers each time?
@Elranzer
That's a great question that I've been wondering about as well. I see people here buying new phones and switching carriers every time a new phone comes out for one of them and I'm still stuck under my contract. What's going on here?
@sfox8
People sell their phones on craigslist and ebay, and used the money to buy out their ETF if switching or towards the retail (or other deal on used) for a new phone if staying and locked in contract. Plus, like some people said, Sprint let's the Premier account upgrade every year, so in some cases, you can make money by selling your year old phone and getting that new one for contract pricing.
Man i was hoping to see that 4g icon i wanted to see how it looked like. this will announced at ctia hopefully
I'm sure they'll add 720P and some internal memory. 16GB maybe?
Also, with TMo getting the HD2 it seems like they won't be getting another 4" device anytime soon. It looks like HTC is spreading the love.
Damn.
whats up with the wierd noises in the first video? it sounds like hes fapping over the phone? :S
Hey guys, I just don't understand why HTC make so many smartphones, why don't they make an ubberwicked one and a small one or something like that instead of the incredible, the supersonic, the nexus one, etc...
No ?
