HTC Supersonic meets Mr. Blurrycam, leaves us wanting more (video)
Being drip-fed information on the HTC Supersonic is unlikely to be as pleasant an experience as actually having one, but it's all we can do to fill the time until this beast of a phone finally makes its official debut (probably on Sprint). Today's appearance shows what looks to be a majorly insecure Mr. Blurrycam sporting gloves and gingerly handling a handset purporting to be HTC's latest and greatest. We're mostly treated to a sight of the back, which is white as our first (and most trusted) tipster had seen, and gives us a grainy first look at the camera and speaker grill arrangement. Check out the video after the break. As a bonus, we've found another source for the earlier Supersonic video -- you know, the one that got yanked from YouTube twice -- and have embedded it as well, go get them both while they're still around.

@mxm
Because they aren't Apple.
@mxm For the same reasons BMW doesn't make one single vehicle; Options.
@mxm because HTC makes hardware for more than one carrier, unlike apple, and the networks aren't compatible with each other. On top of that, each carrier is likely going to want something to make their phones stand out- a straight clone of an old phone running on someone else's network likely isn't going to cut it.
In this case specifically, Sprint is the only carrier that has anything close to a 4g network up and running- The supersonic simply can't be made for verizon/tmobile/sprint. The "incredible" is the supersonic minus the 4g capability, plus wifi to make up for it.

HTC = best cell phone manufacturer ever.
Love the fact T-Mobile is getting the HD2 in a couple weeks but really would love this to hit us also even tho I know that would greedy and that won't happen.
Enjoy sprint users, you deserve it!
I'll be content with my Nexus One until its successor will be released.
is that a picture of the phone suffering from RROD?
let's hope that the supersonic launches this summer so that come november, when i'm finally out of my absolutely awful contract with verizon, i can switch to sprint and get a supersonic on sale.
Hum ok... Thanks !
Reminds me of homemade pRon videos.
why is the person covering the button arrangement? so we won't know if it's android based or is a windows phone 7 series device?
but if that's the case, then why bother showing a video of it?
lennie, the device in the video is running android 2.1. the device has embed and engraved serial #s all over it. whoever took the video was careful.
I'm currently out of contract with T-Mobile and I'm waiting on THIS phone to switch to Sprint... their everything whatever plan is ridiculously affordable compared to the other carriers for everything you can get (plus we get 20% off at my household monthly :D).
COME ON HTC + SPRINT. MAKE IT HAPPEN!
Look for this phone at the end of March and release in April. The Supersonic will work on 3g where 4g is not available. Wimax should be available in my area this coming summer. The only problem I have is my Sprint contract is not up till October for me to get my full discount!
I'm somewhat content with my samsung moment...But I'll be willing to jump on this asap! HTC just does things better
I switch phones all the time on Verizon, don't have any inside deals but don't pay the full retail price each time. If you are willing to wait about a month after release you can buy and sell on craigslist for about the subsidized price. Since the phone I sell is often about 5 months old, it still sells for a good price. That's why I do. In this instance bought my eris for 250, probably sell it for 200 and will likely get an Incredible or nexus one for about 400. Sometimes I get even better ratios depending on the phone's original price. The eris was cheap to begin with. Not sure if this is what you guys were looking for, but I get a new phone about every 5 months and only sign contracts for 1 years when I want to sign. When I do sign that contract and sell my phone, I usually make a few bucks.
Also, as stated, the 2nd video is the Incredible, but supersonic might make me jealous of sprint for the first time ever.
well palm???? i will be switching to android if you cant beat this???? by palm pre hello big screen babyyy!!!! lmao
Sprint is coming back.
Fast.
The Now Network is coming.
Beware.
I really like the look of the back of the phone so far. I get my Sprint Premier upgrade in Nov.(1 year anniversary of buying Hero). If this phone actually comes out significantly sooner than that, I'll probably just buy it full price, then buy another subsidized one in Nov. and sell that to help make up the cost.
Portland WiMax is ready to rock Supersonic.
As HTC continues to lead the way in the smartphone market, they make everything else look more and more dated. It's not even just the raw specs, but the fact the final package is so quality. Honestly, what does Apple, Motorola, Sony, or Nokia have on them?
Have you seen the n900?
@neoelectrex
Yes I have. It's a thick, heavy phone with shitty three row keyboard, a resistive uni-touch screen and an OS that's optimized more for opened ended MIDs and tablets then it is for finger based navigation like the iPhone or an Android phone.
Like I said, it's not just the raw specs (even though many of HTCs phone are nearly as powerful as the N900), it's the fact that the final product is so quality in both hardware and software with the small, minute details. I'd rather have the Nexus One then anything Nokia has in their mobile lineup even if you loaded a perfect version of Android 2.1 on it.
I wouldn't worry about the HD2 being Windows guys. Think about how the Nexus One got a leaked ROM from the HTC Desire with Sense. The Supersonic's ROM will get leaked and put on the HD2, fortunately that device has the same amount of buttons as the HD2 and the same exact pretty much everything for that matter.
I really hope that it doesn't include WiMax, because if it does it won't launch in the UK, and that's where I live!
And i have been awaiting this device for months!
