EVE Evolved: Massively's plans for EVE Fanfest 2013

There's just over a week to go until EVE Online's massive tenth anniversary Fanfest, and you'll be pleased to hear that Massively will be there this year to cover the action! CCP is aiming to make this the biggest Fanfest yet, promising huge reveals and announcements about EVE's summer Odyssey expansion and beyond. We can also expect to hear some big news about upcoming console MMOFPS DUST 514, and fans of Vampire: The Masquerade will undoubtedly get to see some of the year's progress toward making the World of Darkness MMO a reality.

Tickets to this year's Fanfest sold out in record time, so many players who really wanted to be there for EVE's tenth anniversary celebration weren't able to secure a spot. CCP is running its usual livestream of the main talks for those not in attendance, but only certain parts of the event are being streamed. Here at Massively, we plan to give you an inside look at Fanfest with ongoing news coverage from April 25th to April 27th and in-depth opinion pieces on what each announcement means for players.

In this week's short and sweet EVE Evolved, I lay out Massively's plans for in-depth coverage of EVE Fanfest 2013 and ask what you'd like to see reported on.

Morning speculation posts

Early each morning before the event, I'll write up a speculation post on what we're likely to hear at the day's main talks and what reveals CCP might have in store for EVE and DUST fans. The Fanfest schedule hasn't been released yet, but in previous years it's been so packed that multiple events happened at the same time and only a few key events each day made it onto the livestream. I'll be sure to include a full list of all the day's activities in the morning speculation post, and you can let me know if there's an interesting event or roundtable discussion that might not be streamed and you'd like to see me report on.

Live news coverage throughout the day

Stay tuned to the EVE Fanfest 2013 tag throughout each day or subscribe to the tag's RSS feed to keep updated with all the big news items and reveals from Fanfest as they happen. If I can get a stable internet connection in the convention centre, I'll also be posting live updates and photos on Twitter throughout the event with the crowd's immediate reactions to the news.

Evening wrap-up articles

At the end of each day, I'll write up an in-depth opinion piece wrapping up the day's events and what they could mean for the future of EVE Online, DUST 514, and the MMO genre as a whole. I should also have time to hit up a few developers and players for interviews throughout the three-day event. If there's a particular developer you'd like to hear more from or a burning question you want an answer to, please let me know in the comments on this article and I'll do my best to make it so. Interviews will be posted shortly after the event, and we'll finish with a final Fanfest video roundup when CCP gets all of its recordings online.

The final day of the tenth anniversary EVE Fanfest coincidentally lands on the exact same date as the fifth anniversary of the EVE Evolved column, and what better place to celebrate than at the birthplace of EVE itself. If there's anything in particular you'd like me to investigate or take pictures of this year, be sure to leave a comment about it in this post and tune into our Fanfest 2013 coverage as it happens from April 25th to April 27th. Would you like to see developers be asked more hard-hitting questions or hear more from the players themselves about what makes EVE and Fanfest special to them? Let us know!
