YouTube has been working hard lately to fix issues around child exploitation and abuse. The Google-owned video service revamped its policies and their enforcement around videos featuring minors or family-friendly characters in disturbing situations. Over the weekend, the company promised a crackdown on inappropriate comments on kid-friendly videos in response to big-name brands pulling their advertisements from the respective content. Now, YouTube is working to fix a problem with its autocomplete system that was finishing the search term "how to have" with "s*x with kids."

We want our kids to use the internet, sure, but we want them to do it safely. No one wants young children to deal with inappropriate content, like fake Peppa Pig or Doc McStuffins videos. Unfortunately, it's increasingly difficult to police all of the various services and apps that our children use, including YouTube. A new study performed by researchers from the US, UK and Brazil analyzed YouTube videos from all three regions that had been viewed more than 37 billion times. They found that children are increasingly exposed to videos containing advertising and disturbing images that are indistinguishable from regular kids' programming. The study also found that children younger than the "allowed" ages around the globe are accessing YouTube, many through their parents' accounts.

  • The Daily Grind: Has something in-game ever creeped you out?

Final Fantasy XIV has recently patched in its egg-hunting holiday for the year, and the results have been an entirely new level of creepy. The holiday is quite explicitly described as the result of an insane religious zealot passing around eggs based off a dream she had, while in the skies over each city, eggs hover in the air like a pending alien invasion. It's actually far creepier than it sounds, despite the fact that the salient goal is to just get your character a silly looking hat. Of course, the holiday events are not usually the big creepy parts of a given game. But there are many times when a specific quest line or zone or even character model will just make you a little uneasy. So has something in a game ever creeped you out? World of Warcraft's long-standing demonic Goldshire children? The mass sacrifices taking place in Guild Wars? Or something even more innocuous? Every morning, the Massively bloggers probe the minds of their readers with deep, thought-provoking questions about that most serious of topics: massively online gaming. We crave your opinions, so grab your caffeinated beverage of choice and chime in on today's Daily Grind!

  • We want to believe in We Move: Pain vs. Pleasure

It's probably an outright hoax -- nay, almost definitely complete nonsense ... right? Whether you're a believer or a skeptic, the shocking media and disturbing atmosphere for the enigmatic We Move: Pain vs. Pleasure is simply too intense to ignore. It began with this trailer -- a seemingly innocent (if odd) attempt at marketing an upcoming WiiWare game. Righto, no problem, we'll wait for more information. While said information didn't arrive, the whole gaming community was shocked by the completely awesome second trailer, with the same woman from the first video becoming a dominatrix for a pained young man. Now, if this is nothing but a big pile of lies, you can't discredit the creator for having commitment to a project. The latest We Move trailer has surfaced above, and it's just as mystifying as always. The Balance Board Blog team contacted a Nintendo rep, who simply stated that they "know nothing about this at all." A blunt answer to halt any probing journalists before a surprise Pherosesoft announcement at E3, or the cold hard truth that We Move is a hoax? You decide -- just keep an eye out for any additional goss during our E3 coverage next week.[Via Balance Board Blog]

Even StarFox's furry-friendly backdrop couldn't hold a candle to Fortune Channel, Capcom and TakaraTomy's latest installment to the puppy-fashion Wantame series. Predicting the future with minigames certainly sounds interesting, but we would rather not have to dress up virtual dogs in provocative outfits during the process. The miniature daschund posing on the right is probably the second most unsettling image of a dolled-up animal that we've ever come across. If you want to see the most unsettling image -- and we're not kidding around here, your eyes may very well hop out of their sockets, scampering away at the mere sight of this one -- step past the post break.
