NintendoWare Weekly: Cave Story, Game & Watch

You know what you're downloading on Wii today without having to look at the full list. In fact, we'll save you some time: Cave Storyis the full list. In what we still regard as a pleasant surprise, Nicalis's remake is actually, for real, being released today! The only thing better than actually getting to play Cave Story today would be getting to download it for free -- which you just might be able to do, if you follow @nicalis on Twitter and take part in the dev's daily giveaway.

DSiWare is also home to pleasant surprises today, in the form of three DSiWare versions of Game & Watch minigames.

WiiWare

  • Cave Story (Nicalis, 1 player, 1,200 Wii Points): Explore a mysterious subterranean land as a mysterious baseball-cap-wearing guy.

DSiWare

  • Drift Street International (Tantalus, 1-4 players, 800 Points): Top Gear Rally developer Tantalus offers a multiplayer game about midnight street racing (hence the "Street"). Build your nitrous meter with, you guessed it, drifts.

  • Libera Wing (Pixel Federation, 1 player, 800 DSi Points): The title makes it sound like a shooter, but it's actually tower defence -- in space.

  • Game & Watch: Mario's Cement Factory (Nintendo, 1 player, 200 DSi Points): In this recreation of the classic LCD game, Mario has to ride elevators to higher levels in order to dump cement into mixers.

  • Game & Watch: Chef (Nintendo, 1 player, 200 DSi Points): Juggle flying ingredients in your skillet.

  • Game & Watch: Judge (Nintendo, 1-2 players, 200 DSi Points): A really strange game about holding up signs with numbers on them. And hitting people with mallets, of course.
