Summer HDTV suggestions
Hopefully you're recovered from any Memorial Day barbecue related shenanigans because warm weather is here and your presence is needed -- inside watching TV. Heat and sunlight are the enemy, and there's plenty of programing to keep us where the air conditioning blows from now until the fall. Burn Notice -- USA -- June 3, 9 p.m.
Burn Notice kicks off its fourth season this week, and while podcast listeners know we've had some questions about the film used and how it affects picture quality, the action on screen will keep us coming back as long as Michael Westen is doing his spy thing. expect plenty of thermite, beach scenes, car chases, explosions, and Bruce Campbell.
Lie to Me -- Fox -- June 7, 8 p.m.
You'd be surprised by how many situations can apparently turn on the ability to discern who is lying, about what and why but that's the premise week after week for this show on Fox. It's pretty similar in practice to House, which should be enough to keep it on for many summers to come.
The Closer -- TNT -- July 12, 9 p.m.
Brenda Lee has been coaxing criminals into confessions for five seasons already, and despite being just one of a number of procedurals on TV, this one seems to stay fresh and avoid becoming an also-ran, probably due to a solid cast and quality guest star appearances.
Entourage -- HBO -- June 27, 10:30 p.m.
Vince, E, Turtle and Drama are back and always entertaining. Coming into its seventh season, the boys antics are in danger of getting a little long in the tooth, but Jeremy Piven as Ari Gold will be enough to keep this one scheduled on the DVR every week.
Futurama -- Comedy Central -- June 24, 10 p.m.
Rescued from the Fox scrap heap, fan support has brought back Futurama and we're happy to see it, and happier to know it will be in sweet, sweet high definition.
