The Queue: The luckiest guy in the world

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mathew McCurley (@gomatgo) will be your host today.

After complaining about archaeology never paying off and being a dumb, boring grind, I randomed three new rares, bringing me up to 19 out of 20 rares for my Professor title. Talk about a lucky change of fortune. This is where the trendy people would put something like #humblebrag, but we only put that in our tags.

Nobar asked:

Any idea if Blizzard ever will implement a native linux client? I know that we have workarounds but i'd prefer a native one.

It is unlikely that World of Warcraft will get a native Linux client release. The numbers are just not there, most likely, and the development time for such a project could potentially be astronomic. Commenter JKWood made the point that the new 64-bit WoW client works very well with Wine 1.4-rc4 for Linux in a WoW64 setup, so that sounds like something you might want to try if your Linux WoW install isn't performing as optimally as you'd like. Maybe we can draw some attention to the subject matter here and get a discussion going in the comments, and you might even want to try the official support forums.

hokiebuddy asked:

Why doesn't blizzard offer rewards to players who've subscribed to wow for a long period of time? I've had a regular subscription going on 7 years now soon and I feel its a bit of a slight since I've been so loyal to their product. Maybe a mount after 5 years of game time, or a free pet or something would be nice. At least would show that they appreciate your loyalty and business. I know other games do this why doesn't blizzard? After they just so large they don't feel they need to, or is there some other reason?

Timed loyalty rewards are a great way to keep subscribers active and bring in people who might have left a long time ago. A yearly tiered system based on when you created your account could be pretty cool. That means all of those 7-year-old accounts that haven't been active in many years could be eligible for really cool rewards for their characters. Make everything account-bound, and you're set.

I really enjoyed the Daily Quest and I usually clicked through to read the blogs. Since the Daily Quest disappeared I haven't noticed you linking to any player blogs at all, so either they've been lost in other articles or you really haven't been linking to them. This makes me sad. :(

It was also fun to see when my friend's blogs were linked and hear them excitedly talk about the jump in blog traffic they received.

Bring back the Daily Quest!

It's here. You'll notice that it's less like "here's a link" and more "here's something thought-provoking and fun," with links to the blog in question. For instance, when I wrote about Perculia's awesome blog post on items in Cataclysm potentially having their roots in the poetry of T.S. Eliot and John Keats, you might not have thought that was a Daily Quest article. Surprise -- it was!

Also, most stories have a source link at the bottom left-hand side of the post, next to the permalink. Most of the time, this button will take you to the source link, which is usually the blog itself. The blog post is also linked in the text of the article itself. You'll start noticing it more.

sdaafsd asked:

What ever happened to the spectral mounts datamined?

No idea. I had originally pegged them for either flight point mounts at the Darkmoon Island or some time of Darkmoon mount prize. Alas, we have not heard anything about those two new spectral fliers. They were really cool, though.

Happy rest of the weekend, everyone. See you guys tomorrow!
