WRUP: A hot weekend and the anticipation of a patch

WRUP A hot weekend and the anticipation of a patch

It seems most of the country is blanketed in sweltering heat. If you find yourself outside in the sizzling temperatures, take care to stay hydrated and not hurt yourself. Heat like this isn't something to take lightly, and we don't want any of you to get hurt. We like you!

So while polling your intrepid WoW Insider staff about their weekend plans, we thought we'd take a few moments to ask what they think of the patch so far. Opinions are varied, of course. That's just as well. If we all had the same opinion, that would make for pretty boring reading. So jump on behind the cut and see what your favorite WoW bloggers are into.

Adam Holisky (@adamholisky) I'm excited. It's going to be awesome, like the original WoW Children's Book.

Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to be doing this weekend, for once - I may log on the PTR to check out the Timeless Isle a little more in-depth, there were so many people on there yesterday it was hard to see anything! As for the patch, I'm really excited for a new raid, but uh ... yeah, that little glimpse I got of the Timeless Isle yesterday got me far more excited, for some reason - I've been waiting for them to open that up, and there's a billion and one things to do there!

Chase Hasbrouck (@alarondruid, @alaronmonk) Heading out on vacation this weekend for 2 weeks, so playtime of anything will be light. If I have gaming time, it'll likely be with some of the sub-$5 games i picked up during the Summer Sale on a whim; things like Wizorb, Ghost Master, and Half Minute Hero. Cautiously interested in the patch, though I'm still sticking with my no-PTR policy so I can actually enjoy it when it gets here.

Daniel Whitcomb (@danielwhitcomb) I'm going to be working on some of the games I bought in the Steam Summer Sale. Dust: An Elysian Trail is my current project, and it is pretty fun. I haven't played a good action RPG in a while. As for the patch: Mostly on the nervous side. The more I hear about the Timeless Isle, the more I'm concerned it'll be something one can consume in 2 days then ignore except for the weekly world boss fights. And I'm not optimistic for Alliance lore this patch either. And I'm really going to miss Spinning Crane Kick. On the plus side, I'm looking forward to the Wrathion questline and the death knight class changes.

Dawn Moore (@dawnwow) I don't think I'm any more excited for the patch now than I was a few weeks ago. Aside from the new raid, most of the new features just aren't up my alley. I'm curious to see how virtual realms come together, though. All my alt characters are on different servers, which means they lack the support my main could provide. It would be nice to have one or two characters come together through virtual realm.

Joe Perez (@lodurzj) not sure what I'm doing this weekend, I may take it off of gaming and do something outside now that the abnormal heat is breaking. Maybe some Shakespeare in the Park or something like that.

My level of excitement for the patch went way up when I found the Glyph of Rain of Frogs.

Kristin Marshall (@kristin) I'll be wiping on H Dark Animus Sunday night. Woo! As far as the patch goes, I'm looking forward to the new stuff. I'm sure I'll have fun with proving grounds, but I'm undecided on virtual realms... we'll see how they pan out.

Lisa Poisso (@lisapoisso) I'll be offline editing a novel that's due for publication in just a few weeks, but I'm really looking forward to healer proving grounds. My current crop of characters are all solo artists, and this looks like a fun way to stay sharp for someone who's a healer at heart.

Matt "Matticus" Low (@matticus) PLAY ALL THE THINGS!

Matt Walsh (@Rhidach) Probably some more Civ 5: Brave New World. I have this one goal of playing a game way past the victory, years and years into the "future" and seeing how the world develops once the AI stops trying to win. I'll see how that goes. As for the patch, I'm pretty excited -- lots of good stuff coming down the pike. Especially Proving Grounds!

Olivia Grace (@oliviadgrace) not sure what the plans are gaming-wise this weekend, I'm actually at a wedding on Saturday which will get in the way of my playing things a little! As for the patch, I'm cautiously excited. Timeless Isle is pretty great, and I'm really enjoying pushing myself on Proving Grounds, but there are things I'm worrying about too, like the virtual realms and the cash shop.

Sarah Pine (@ilaniel) Out of nostalgia inspired by the "Balance and Ruin" album OC Remix released recently, I'm replaying FFVI (again). Love that game. And it's interesting how many details I've forgotten in the 5-6 years since I last played through it. I'm happy for the patch because I've been wanting for something like the Proving Grounds for healers for ages, and it'll be nice to play it live with functional addons!

The weekend is the perfect time to kick back, relax and enjoy some game time. Are you an achievement junkie? Can't get enough raiding? Rolling a new alt? Considering taking the leap into roleplaying? Whatever your favorite way to play World of Warcraft, let us know in the comments what you're playing this weekend!
