WRUP: In which there are elves and broken

WRUP In which there are elves and broken

The delicate subject of new classes was discussed this week by various members of our staff, and while we seem to be split on the matter, there's another option to consider. In this week's bonus question, we look at the possibility of new races and what everyone would like to see -- along with a glimpse at what the staff is playing this weekend. But enough of that -- what are you playing this weekend? Leave your comments, and while you're at it, maybe you want to answer this week's bonus question of what new races you'd like to see yourselves!

Daniel Whitcomb (@danielwhitcomb) I'll be farming battle pets and working on my last few rares on Timeless Isle for the Timeless Champion achievement. I keep barely missing Chelon and Osu. As far as a new race goes, I am still a High Elf fan. As someone who's loved them since Elven Archers in WCII, I think we should have them from the start. Plus, with the extra development the Silver Covenant got in Patch 5.1 and 5.2, it's a perfect time to bring them in to the Alliance. Yes, I know they're "too similar to Blood Elves." I figure we can just give the Horde some "reformed" Eredar that look like red-skinned Draenei, and we'll be even.

Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) I'm not sure what the heck I'll be doing this weekend. Hopefully, catching up on some reading, but I never really know around here. Bonus answer: Honestly, I really don't think we need yet another new race. We've been through all the standard additions that people expect. I think the two that people have talked about since vanilla that were never added were naga and ogres, but I'm not really sure if either of those would work out. I guess Daniel's suggestion would be the most logical one, but at the same time I don't really know if the lore supports it, at the moment.

Joe Perez (@lodurzj) Another fine weekend of painting and customizing models. I actually just got paid for my first commission, so I'm super excited! Also going to be spending some time in the world of Shiantar, a high fantasy tabletop RPG game world that was created by some very cool people, and friends of my gaming group. My team is part of the living campaign, which means all of our exploits are considered canon for the development of future modules and campaigns. We're literally getting to shape the fantasy world for future players! At the end, when we're all done. The characters get to become permanent NPCs in the game world!

Bonus Question: I have no clue why, but I always wanted to see Quillboar and Broken as playable races. Yes I know that Broken are basically Dranaei, but even if it was a subset option of the race I'd be OK with that!

Lisa Poisso (@lisapoisso) I'd wanted to work on some Proving Grounds, but it's been a stressy week and I'm not so sure that'll be a great fit. We'll see. Bonus question: We do, in fact, need more elves in Azeroth.

Matthew Rossi (@MatthewWRossi) Paragons of the Klaxxi this weekend, maybe Garrosh too depending. As for a new playable race, I kind of feel like we have enough. I'd rather see variations on races we already have, like Yaungol and Taunka for tauren, Broken for Draenei, Dark Iron Dwarves, things like that.

Matt "Matticus" Low (@matticus) HEARTHSTOOOOONE! Must get back to Masters again!

Matt Walsh (@Rhidach) Probably some Minecraft, some Wind Waker HD (love that game!), and some challenge modes on Sunday. My CMs group is over the hump and has four golds to go, and hopefully only three when Sunday has come and gone. Daniel Whitcomb already nailed the new race question, as did Rossi. I'd like to see new race "flavors" that would allow players (of perhaps both sides?) to play new versions of each race model. Plus, high elves for Alliance is a must.

Megan O'Neill (@slowpoker) I'm working on my bear alt since I foresee lots of raiding downtime once we kill everything. My bear still has Spear of Xuen (ilevel 471 ohhh yeahhhh), sadly. Bonus: I'm still waiting on the Broken draenei warlock flavor. But being a mantid with mantid power racials might be cool.

Robin Torres (@cosmiclaurel) I'm working on leveling up an RP character that I'm enjoying. Bonus: Vrykul, please.

Sarah Pine (@ilaniel) I'll be installing my new computer parts this weekend, and assuming it all goes smoothly I'll be playing WoW on a nice revamped machine! I can't wait.

New playable race? Man, I wouldn't mind some sort of Vrykul splinter group, just because I love their models. Not sure it makes sense lore-wise, but hey.

The weekend is the perfect time to kick back, relax and enjoy some game time. Are you an achievement junkie? Can't get enough raiding? Rolling a new alt? Considering taking the leap into roleplaying? Whatever your favorite way to play

World of Warcraft, let us know in the comments what you're playing this weekend!
