It's a big week for Formula E. The all-electric racing series has debuted it's incredibly efficient Gen3 car ahead of this weekend's Monaco E-Prix. And while Formula E's show car gave us a good idea of what the next-gen racer will look like when it hits the track next season, it wasn't exactly decked out in circuit-ready livery. Thankfully, some of the teams have shared concepts of what their cars could look like in Season 9, so those give us a better reference point for track-ready Gen3 cars.
Mahindra Racing has applied its trademark red and black color scheme to the Gen3 car.
Jaguar TCS Racing explains that it's abstract art-inspired concept livery will be on its Gen3 test car. "The monochromatic scheme and sharp, angular design adds a sophisticated feel to the British manufacturer's test car, reflecting the wider Jaguar brand's sustainability-rich reimagination of modern luxury," the team said in a statement. Although the concept livery will be on the Jaguar I-TYPE Gen3 development vehicle during crucial testing phase, the final Season 9 livery will debut later this year.
"A Nissan Formula E concept livery fitting for a new beginning," Nissan Motorsports explained. The concept livery wraps the Gen3 car in Sakura or cherry blossoms — the most popular flower in Japan.
"We've seen in the last two car generations of Formula E how fast technology transfers from track to road, and Gen3 will enable us to test the next level of innovation to its limits. The car is more powerful, more efficient, and lighter than ever before." said Sylvain Filippi, Envision Racing's Managing Director and CTO, in a statement. The team's trademark blue and green color scheme is on display in this concept design.
