WalMart to roll out WiMax?
WalMart, the purveyor of all things middle-of-the-road is adding a
surprising item to its menu. WiMax (basically long-range WiFi) base stations will supposedly be attached to all of
WalMart's numerous stores and bestow broadband internet access upon a good portion of the US. Of course it won't be
WalMart tech behind the venture, they'll just be lending their "good" name to whichever company actually provides the
gear. If this ends up happening it'll have some interesting results, mainly Low Everyday Prices on broadband.
Always. Just don't be surprised when you see that god-forsaken smily face injected into your browser
sessions.

I just want to clarify... if you follow all the links back on this Walmart Wimax concept, you'll see the idea emanating from my blog. I was just conjecturing on how Walmart could pretty much devastate the telecom industry in one fell swoop.
You can read my blog entry for the original scoop on this idea here:

will Wallmart stores in CANADA BE INCLUDED?
Will Canadian Walmarts be included in wimax
Do not support Wal-Mart! They are a horrible corporation that does not care about it's employees, communities or the environment.
I like many Americans, don't care about Wal-Mart's employees, communities or your "environment", but they have the cheap prices which makes them very successful as a business.
Take all that money you saved and give it to you favorite charity, don't expect every company to comply with your ethical standards.
You know, I'm a recent "convert" to your blog and love reading it faithfully. What we have in common is a love of gadgets and technology.
But when you start putting "good" name in front of a characterization of Wal-mart, you cross over into the political arena and I wonder if you really mean to be doing that. Do you really want your readership polarized by such incidental and perhaps uninformed remarks? Do you want them perhaps turned off to your main focus entirely by what I'm thinking may be something of a flippant and "trendy" remark.
Make no mistake, those of us to the right can also be gadget and technology lovers. We just happen to view the world through a perspective closer to that of Wal-Mart than that of say... Green Peace.
So I ask you again, are you really committed to making world view a focal point of your writings here or do you want the focus to remain on what we have in common. If the latter, then you might want to consider more carefully some of your "funny" remarks in future entries.
