Treo 650 coming from Sprint in late November.
Ok, we just got off the phone with Sprint customer service. We played a little dumb with the rep, who told us that they have the new Treo 650 listed as going sale in "late November". This could change (they could move it up or they could push it back) and the rep didn't have any more info about what it'd be priced at.

Why does the worst carrier in the world have to have the best phone in the world?
I think of Sprint as rather the opposite.
I love their service, but I hate the people that work for them and I also am not thrilled with any of their phones.
Though it would be nice to add a second phone with bluetooth, I'm not gonna get excited until it actually happens.
yeah sprint sux so bad. i hate how i always have 3-4 bars in places with an actual population and how i am granfathered in at $5 a month for unlimited date usage for 1gig + a month of streaming audio and web browsing. it sucks that i get that all and 1000 anytime minutes at a retention rate of $59 a month. why cant i have verizon so i can get $1300 bills and have reception on strange corners of various highways... woe is me... ^_^/
I just got off the phone with my IBM SprintPCS rep and he said that I should expect to see the BlackBerry 7750 released for Sprint by the middle to end of October. He also mentioned that there is a beta-test program going on right now, and there are already some people with Sprint BlackBerries.
How about $85 per month for two lines, 2000 anytime minutes, unlimited free Vision and PCS to PCS? This was the quoted rate when they first launched Vision, not even a retention special. Not trying to play "top this" - my point is Sprint has had my back since 1998 and I can drive from Midland, TX to Atlanta, GA (1200 miles of I20) and stay on Sprint all the way. I've never spoken to an insulting rep (sometimes clueless, but never rude). Has to be more than just "good luck."
Doesn't matter which carrier has it... I want one!!!
while I really like that Samsung i550 Palm OS 5.2 phone that *may* be out in the next 3 years (about the only thing I don't like about Sprint is the wait time between new phones), the new Treo actually sounds good. My current LG works, but I sure would love a bigger browser and a keyboard wouldn't hurt, either.
too bad it will be suckass silver, I like how my carbon treo 600 looks. The only reason for me to upgrade is for bluetooth and 320x320 screen.
Although the phone looks sweet, I was inches away from throwing my Samsung i500 out the window...all the Sprint goodies aside, what good is any high-end phone when I can't even hold a voice conv. for 5 minutes between Baltimore and Richmond??
Sprint does suck! Escpecially if you live in their hometown. There are so many people on the network here you can rarely get a call through. I live less than a mile from their original World HQ and I can't even get a bar! My wife works by the the new HQ, sure she has bars, but can rarely get through.
Have had Sprint service for many years. Have good reception everywhere I care. Have had only positive experiences with customer support.
I got my wife a Treo 600 a few months ago and it works great. Internet access is fast. The unlimited plan is the only way to go - How can you know whether you'll use 10MB a month or more?
I'm waiting for the 650 to get one for myself. I thought I wanted a Samsung i700 because of the MS operating system, but after using my wife's Palm powered PDA I understand why Palm OS is selling well. It is much simpler and convenient to use than MS.
We all have our opinion of Sprint. Have had their service for years (long before it covered the many areas). I love the service. The customer service are very nice...only a couple of times have I had anyone bordering on rude. Now, I won't comment on their level of training and experience, as well as Sprint computer systems, etc. I can basically assure myself that if I make any change it is going to take at least 10 more calls and a couple of weeks to get it the way it was supposed to happen...whether that means "working right" or "billed correctly." The good news is that eventually I always find someone who knows how to straighten things out. Leo Laport (sp) on Tech TV one day went on nationwide TV and basically said the same thing...service is great, people are individually OK, but the system and organization doesn't have it together and that's the reason that I'm cancelling and going on TV telling the world.
I would love to switch to Sprint just for the Treo 650, but reception in my area (and I'm very near metro Atlanta) is nonexistent. Same with T-mobile. I'm pretty much stuck with Cingular (which I have) or Verizon. I have a feeling that Verizon will carry the 650 though; they already offer the 600, and by the time my Cingular contract is up, I should be able to get a good deal on the 650. I will miss my rollover minutes though; I've got several thousand built up, and during the times that my consulting job is hot, they come in handy.
Long ago I ditched Sprint (w/ excellent reception in TX) to get a Hiptop/Sidekick. In the month overlap I had both phones working, the Sprint phone would have 4 bars in places the SK/T-Moble would crap out. I know the SK2 has better reception, but the crappy developer support and lack of Bluetooth means I'm switching back to Sprint via the Treo 650 when it comes out. The 320x320 screen with rumors of GPS accessories is too much to pass up.
