More pics of BenQ's P50 Pocket PC Phone
Yeah, it's totally a Treo knockoff (it's even roughly the same size, too), but we've been making eyes at
BenQ's P50 Pocket PC Phone ever since we first spotted it
at CeBIT back in March, and fortunately a bunch of new pics of it have turned up just in time to remind us of why we
were so crushed out in the first place. The specs are hot (Bluetooth, WiFi, 1.3 megapixel digital camera, a large LCD
screen, mini QWERTY keyboard), but they'd be even hotter if BenQ would hurry up and get the P50 out before the
Treo 650 walks on stage and makes us forget all about
this thing. Click to see a bunch more pics.

What about the BenQ P30
http://www.symbian.com/phones/bq_p30.html
did this one ever get on the market ???
At best I think it was released in Japan only. Not sure of the RF, but you can check that out at the (sometimes wrong) gsmarena.com
Isn't this essentially a repackaged iPaq 4355 with a built-in camera and voice functionality? It doesn't really look like a Treo competitor since it's pretty long and looks unwieldy.
When will this be released and where? I want one. By the way, UNWIELDY? It's not a sword it's a phone and by the way it's pretty small for all it does. 120 x 60 x 20mm and weighing in at 150g!
This looks like the e-ten phone with a mini querty keyboard attached.
The last picture looks interesting. The laptop looks like an IBM thinkpad. And an AMD logo on it ? When did IBM make an AMD thinkpad ?
While the treo is 4.48" in height. The P50 is 4.8" Not much difference there. And, there is nothing 'attached' here. Its part of te unit ;-)
And, of course its a treo competitor. And if you want soemthing that can multi-task. This is your device. Unless of course you get an MPx. But that hinge scares me.
Just wishful thinking or is there really an Athlon ThinkPad in world somewhere?
The AMD sticker looks self applied, but I thought I would mention it.
If you have a touch screen and decent character recognition (PPC does) why bother with the keypad? Or maybe keep the keypad and scrap the QWERTY keyboard.
It also has domed keys just like the Treo.
Anyone else find the domed keys a pain? I tend to use my thumbnails, rather than my thumbs to hit the keys, and the domed keys make it easy to slide off. Concave keys would have been better IMHO
Am I the only one with this problem?
...as long as this BenQ doesnt have a glitch that eat up a lot of memory like how Treo does... i want this P50!
Just like to check, will this phone has the problem like other PDA phone? such as the phone hang, or missed called cannot be review or tex msg cannot be send and etc? and, when will it be release in singapore?
- its 1.3MP camera makes the Treo 650's VGA camera look old and tired.
- it has slimmer form factor than Sony's P910
- it has a 262K screen!
The question of the 64K dollars...
How much memory does this unit have?
I consider myself a power-user and I need at least 128 RAM...
Thanks...
They sure are taking their time releasing this phone. Let's hope they are using the time wisely to iron out the bugs. IMO, phones running on top of Pocket PC don't exactly have a good track record so far.
I had high hopes for the HP h6500, but a 240x240 screen and no Wi-Fi is making the BenQ P50 a more obvious choice for me now.

Bought a P50 3 weeks back and i think it sucks.Cant detect a wifi even if im next to a router.Keeps jamming and have to continously soft reset it.It has hard rest on its own twice.Regret changing from my good old HP.A nyone else with problems?
