Scrabble pocket dictionary
We get our fix via the official Handmark Scrabble game for
our PDAs, but the hardcore Scrabble players (you know who you are) will mos def want to hook up a dedicated
Scrabble e-dictionary. This $50 Franklin model validates some 100,000 Scrabble words and even provides brief
definitions. So next time you pull out ZAX, QAT, or QUA for the elusive triple-word score, just hand your opponent
this dictionary and call 'em out on their biz.

You can download the entire Scrabble dictionary as flat text and just run a find over it. I guess this works for non-PDA (or even non-cellphones-in-this-millenia) crowd, but if you own a halfway smart device, this is $50 better spent elsewhere.
I swear it is!!!!
I'm still waiting for a device (or an application) that will let you give it your letters, and it will return all the possible words you could spell.
Would that make the game less fun? No! Winning is fun, isn't it? :)
... that doesn't say "Players Dictionary". A badly punctuated dictionary (it should be either "Players' Dictionary" or "Player's Dictionary", indicating a possessive)?
If you are a scrabble fan, then you haven't lived until you've seen "Craziest - A short story by Liz Dubelman" which is a irreverant short flash animation/story about scrabble :)

PS James what you are looking for is an ANAGRAM maker, and here is a good one:

Enjoy!
Hey james you can pump your letter into the scrabble web site and it will give you words. Also has a dictionary!

You should definitely check out The Daily Scrabble® Puzzle Blog at:

For anagram help nothing beats Lexpert. It is available for desktops, handhelds and PDAs available at http://www.carolravi.com/ScrWeb/LeXpert/Default.aspx
Actually Zax is a word, here is the copy-paste right from the Hasbro Scrabble website word lookup for Zax:
ZAX
zax zaxes n pl. -ES a tool for cutting roof slates
hey dude, hand me that zax, will ya! (haven't you ever used that sentence before, ever?? c'mon now!
It was hard for me to tell what he meant too but he knows those are real words, because he is suggesting that with the use of this dictionary that you will be ABLE to use those words and then if someone gives you "the business" (biz) then you can use this dictionary to prove that you are right.
Read it again: "So next time you pull out ZAX, QAT, or QUA for the elusive triple-word score, just hand your opponent this dictionary and call ‘em out on their biz."
I love the wordplay, using another three letter, semi-questionable scrabble word BIZ to drive the point home. Especially when combined with silly words like ZAX, QAT and QUA.
Again, watch that flash animation, Craziest, for some true scrabble insanity. http://www.vidlit.com/craziest/craziest.html
The Franklin model has a useful purpose, though for North American players only as it is based on OSPD rather than the international SOWPODS Scrabble dictionary.
Still, any dictionary or word checker has limitations. Ehile definitely useful, they only teach/check words - they do nothing to develop game strategies.
A handy accessory to any Scrabble Dictionary are the "Scrabble Bonus Word Techniques" ebooks available at http://www.bonuswords.com
A great totally free program for Palm Devices to find Scrabble words, figure out anagrams, fit words to patterns, etc. is LAMPWORDS.
It is available at:

Curious about finding a hard copy (not downloaded) version of SOWPODS with definitions. Any suggestions?
