Alco-Detector detects alcohol on driver's breath while driving
Sure, we have devices that will disable a
vehicle if it senses the driver is already drunk (like the
Alco-Lock, at right), but what about a device that sense if the
driver is getting drunk as he drives? Alco-Detector, created by South African inventor Noel May, fits
that need. The detector is placed within close proximity to the driver, and if it sense rising alcohol levels, it
slowly disables the car in a safe manner. The device is also goof-proof, meaning it can't be disabled by wiley
drunkards who use Listerine to foil the system. So if you see some guy weaving and then slowing down, thank
heavens for Alco-Detecor.

Any responsible person would only drive a car if they had 0 alcohol in their system. Just because you are under the legal limit does not mean that your driving abilities are unaffected.

By someone who had a car accident while trying to use the damn thing while driving at the same time. Which, by design, you have to do, because it hits you for a breath test at random intervals while you're moving.

Thickey, i'm assuming you've also never driven when you're sleepy, when you have fever, when you've taken a cold remedy, etc.. There are a great many times when your driving abilities are "affected" and being mildly intoxicated is only one of those.
If you're going to claim impaired drivers are irresponsible (and you may well be right) why limit your criticism to those who have had a drink?

This could save a life if you ask me and for the repeat offender it is a good way to keep them off the road when the system won't.
