iPod Altoids battery pack

Ok, we should note that you could probably turn just about anything that's the right shape and size into a DIY
external battery pack for the iPod (like that one made out of
a deck of playing cards), but the latest to pop up is a pack that's been squeezed into an Altoids tin and'll give
you an extra ten hours of precious playing time.

try getting that past the TSA at the airport. maybe you could hide it in your shoes while walking thru the metal detector.
I was thinking the same thing! First I thought it was a really great idea, then started thinking how to explain bomb-like contraption "concealed" inside an Altoids tin to the airport security.
Just go to Radio Shack (Maplin in the UK) and buy a 10AA cell holder and a car cigarette lighter female outlet. Pair that with something like the Griffin car adapter and you have all the battery backup you'll ever need, easily refreshed with ubiquitous AAs. Add the empower airplane adapter and you have most modes of travel covered.
