Medion's new 20GB MP3 player
Medion, Medion, Medion….oh, yeah, they came out with some GPS-enabled Pocket PC a few months back. Anyway, they apparently also do MP3 players (or probably more accurately, slap their logo on some anonymous Taiwainese manufacturer's product), and are coming out with a new 20GB model that won't blow you away (the battery life is a dismal eight hours), but does have a built-in SD/MMC memory card slot if you want to dump some photos from your digital camera.

Why do so many companies make only 20 gig models? why?!
it would so piss me off to have a 20 gig mp3 player.
'why?' you ask, because i have 24 gigs of music
i like to download free stuf (that creative commons wired issue was awesome) and podcasts and such. every time i get a new cd, i rip it into mp3's and then put it back in it's case. the result: theres not a single scratch on one of my cd's

"the battery life is a dismal 8 hours"?
That's a little harsh, isn't it? It wasn't that long ago that the iPod had a battery life close to this (I think the iPod mini still does).

20 gigs is plenty for most mp3 users...

i have 145GB. don't see me complaining about the lack of 150GB players. it's called discretion people... put a few things on at a time.
i put some favorite playlists on. then make a playlist based on add-date for newly ripped discs. not too complicated. the only damaged discs i have are the few thousand from my pre-iTunes/iPod days. all my new stuff is nice and freshy fresh... seeing as i also immediately rip and shelve.

Look for it in Aldi grocery stores before Christmas for $130 or so.
Medion and Aldi are a great combo. I got my computer there a few years ago. I would have bought a laptop, but I'm waiting for the *%^ flipstart vaporware to come out.

Hey.
The newest Aldi advertisement is out. The device will sell for 199 Euros not $130 - that would be a steal anyway.
Are you sure the only way to transfer images is using the SD Slot? I understood that the USB 2.0 ports are masters and that you can attach a camera directly to them.

Until now my Medion MP3 with Musicmatch software was a disaster. Synchronizing took days and did not succeed. Playlists were not copied. or were put in a weird succession. Musicmatch crashed (I have never used a program that crashes that much. How do you sync tour files between computer and Medion MP3?

my medion 2.5gb mp3 player is currently hosting a blue screen and i cant switch it off because you power off through the menu and i cant reset it as it doesent have a reset button. Any ideas people? stupid technology!!!

I never used the Musicmatch for my Medion mp3 player because it works as an external HDD. Don't use Musicmatch. I never do or did. Put your albums in folders on the player and after that refresh tracks. Everything should be in perfect place. Be aware of your IDE3tags.. the information in the tags is what the player uses to index the mp3 files. Track number and all. It can play an album in the original sequence if you choose sort by track number.
