Tag Heuer's MONACO Sixty Nine is business up front, party in the back
Tag Heuer's been showing off a new concept design for a watch that's business up front, party in the back. Their new
double-sided MONACO Sixty Nine has a mechanical hand-wound movement on one side when you want to keep it old school,
and then flips around to reveal a quartz digital time piece when you want bring things into the 21st century. Anyone
else smell yet another one of those "It'll take you from the boardroom to the __________" ads?

nice. is this to remain a concept only, or will be seeing this for sale anytime soon?
I've never understood why no one has created a hybrid analog/digital watch that simply overlays an LCD over the analog face. In normal use, the LCD is clear and all you see is the analog face, but press a button and the LCD becomes opaque, allowing you to access the digital functionality.
I'd pay good money for a Breitling or Tag that did that. I love the aesthetics of the Breitlings, Tags and even Swiss Army watches (I prefer an analog watch), but the geek part of me misses the old digital watch that was strapped to my wrist years back - it's occassionally useful to have a stopwatch or an alarm handy. Alas, in my advancing years, I've become much more interested in form rather than function. I love my 100 year old pocket watch - so much nicer looking than those Fossil PDA watches. Too bad it keeps such lousy time... >grin<
Nixon makes something along those lines.

Brian, Omega X-33 is close to what you've asked for. Large analog hands, backed by a large LCD display with all the standard features and a screeming alarm. If it 's good enough for NASA, it should be good enough for us.
The X-33 is a very cool watch. I've heard a lot of good things about it. Titanium, even. It's a bit pricey, however. Over $2,000, I believe. If you have the money, you can't go wrong with an Omega. But if you're looking for an analogue with an LDC overlay at a more reasonable price, check out the Casio WVX100DA. It's an atomic watch you should be able to get for around $100, and it is technically impressive as well as nice looking.
I got the X-33 but I will exchange it with the Sixty-Nice if somone want to without any problem :))).
djp: No the Sixty-Nine is not just a concept anymore it's already for sale.
Why do they ruin a nice mechanical watch with that quartz crap?
I have been trying to buy a Sixty Nine for weeks. Saw it at Basel and wanted from first site. The Monaco V4 will be my next watch if they ever get that one into production.
Which do you believe will hit the market first?
