Virgin Mobile wants to help stop you from drunk dialing

We're not sure we want anyone messing with the hallowed tradition of post-holiday work party drunken booty calls, but starting tomorrow Virgin Mobile, or at least the Australian Virgin Mobile, is going to offer a new service to help stop you from drunk dialing your ex or your boss. You just call up a number, enter the number you want to make sure you don't call, and then you're automatically blocked from making calls from that phone until 6am, by which point you'll probably be passed out on a sidewalk somewhere. It does require you to remember when you're not drunk that you have this bad habit of making booty calls when you are drunk.

I drunk dialled once. I didn't realise it until the next day when i noticed i had made a call to my bank at 0330 that morning. I suppose i was probably in a bar/club somewhere, short on cash, and so rather than go out looking for an ATM i decided it would make much more sense to just give my bank a call.

Fortunately it was closed at that time, or else who knows what i might have bought.

HA! As a chronic drunk dialer, I've been talking about putting a breathalyzer on my phone, but this is much simpler. Of course, what's to stop my drunk self from just borrowing someone else's phone and sneaking off with it?

once a habit, always a habit, drunken dialing is not just for college kids anymore .. if virgin offered this while i was back in college, i would probably still be a VIRGIN! besides, the people i call actually enjoy my midnight ramblins ..
