iPod

The battle rages on. Apple recently released a new version of its iPod firmware, which stops certain models from playing songs downloaded from RealNetworks' music store. Now Real has followed up by promising an update to its Harmony software, which had allowed Real's music to play on the iPod. While the two companies continue to diss each other (Apple accused Real of having "the tactics and ethics of a hacker"), the conflict definitely hasn't dampened iPod sales, though we're not sure you could say the same about sales at Real's online music store.
