Panasonic hi-def @ CES - Plasmas, LCD TVs, and oodles…

Panasonic TC-32LX50-72 & TC-20LA5-72

Yes, oodles and oodles, definitely; Panasonic made it pretty clear they want to be the number one force in plasma HDTV in 2005 and beyond, and they were pretty aggressive with their expected prods and manufacturing. They even recently ramped up their production facilities to get out over 100,000 new units each month; next year they're expecting to be able to produce over 2,000,000 units. Yo. Right up top is their new TC-32LX50-72 and the TC-20LA5-72, two of their new LCD TVs (the TC-20LA5-72 on the right is a regular old low-def); also expect 19, 23, and 26-inch sizes. Panasonic PT-52LCX65-72 & PT-61LCX85-72

Panasonic also announced 5 new HD plasma models, in 37, 42, and 50-inch sizes, with 8.6 billion color rendering, HDMI inputs (two, the PT-52LCX65-72 and PT-61LCX85-72 are shown above). They also announced their first true 1080p wide screen high-def rear-projection LCD (the PT-61LGX35), about which we?re totally stoked.

In the same vein, they followed up the announcement they made last year to pursue high-speed home powerline networking called LifeStream. (This is definitely not the same kind we?re used to hearing about?this stuff?s for in-home hi-def video distribution, something regular home powerline network just isn?t cut out for.) They announced they?ve now partnered with Sony, and claim to be dangerously close to a seamless home video distribution system over powerlines.
