Philips conjures Nexperia TV810, HDTV integration gone wild

Philips Logo

In a bid to consolidate all the crap that goes into making HDTV work, Philips has put together the Nexperia TV810, a feature-packed system on a circuit board that promises to standardize HDTV interconnectivity. The board decodes HD signals, provides connections for storage cards that may (or may not) contain video and photo files, has a USB 2.0 bus, does all the ATSC decoding, and even has digital comb filters and de-interlacers for NTSC signals. Yawning yet? Think of it this way: if a bunch of manufacturers pack this thing into their HDTVs, life will get a lot simpler.
