President Bush: iPod user
Half of you are going to be stoked and half of you are going to be outraged to discover that George W. Bush is an
iPod owner (we're talking about Apple peeps versus non-Apple peeps, what'd you think we were referring to?). We know
you can't see his face in that photo, so you're going to have to take it on faith that's him, or at least check out the
photo essay by Christopher Morris about the Prez that we link to below.
[Thanks, Stephen]

someone @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
Those are my hands and my ipod!
Jon @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
It's a fake! Look at it, the corners are banged up. Plus, it's the same elevator as last year!
Eric @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
Well, the iPod always was meant to be an MP3 player for the computer illiterate. So it figures that it should also be popular with the functionally illiterate.
PDubNYC @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
This is the ultimate endorsement for the "easiest player to use" selling point.
Tomas @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
another reason not to buy an IPOD... gigabeat anyone???
Callum @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
What's that he's playing... I can make out Lennon and "Happy Chistmas..." Oh! NO, i can't.
Robert @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
Once again proving that Apple knows how to design truly, easy-to-use products. In this case, apparently even a monkey can operate it.
Now, if the president could just figure out how to keep from falling off that damn Segway...
seize @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
couple things of note:
1) on the site it's spelled "I-pod". call me a nitpicking fanboy, but that's just plain annoying. it's iPod.
2) the next photo in the series has him on a bike with white headphones. i give it 24 hours before someone turns it into an iPod silhouette ad, complete with some snarky anti-Bush comment.
3) uh, if you look at the other photos, there's one where he's giving a Purple Heart to a soldier lying in a bed, injured from Iraq, and you can (maybe) totally see his, uh, privates.
4) can anyone see what song he's listening to? my guess: toby keith's "courtesy of the red, white and blue (the angry american)."
Opspin @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM

Richard @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
@seize
Regarding point 2: I give it 4 hours ;)
Iceseven @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
Does anybody want my iPod? If Bush has one, I don't want to have one, too!
Now that's really an argument not to buy one.
Tyler @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
I'm actually curious what he listens to while riding... also notice he has a Trek bike.
Iceshaven, yes please send yours to me.
Brian @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
"What's this here "click-wheel" thingy?"
john kerry @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
I actually bought an iPod before I returned it.
Mike @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
nice looking photo spread.
who is the guy and how did he get that kind of access?
Sebhelyesfarku @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
iPod for iDiots.
Mike @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
keep whining libby-tards, i need a good laugh!
Roger @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
Several of these photos were in the recent "Person of the Year" issue of Time magazine, including the one of Pres. Bush riding his bike.
I think though, that he's a PC user. Clinton is a Mac user.
Uncle Sam @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
anyone seen John Kerry use PowerBook? :) I think I seen on Time magazine before Election Day.
Geoffrey Sperl @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
It's not a surprise. After all, Rush Limbaugh is a huge Mac fanatic, and Dubya's campaign staff used Macs all over the place last year.
I'll be honest: I can't stand the fool. I've never voted for him or his father (yes, I'm OLD) and I can't see when I would ever vote for another Bush relative. But, c'mon folks, is an iPod really a need for a politcal debate? For all we know the twins bought it for him for Christmas or his birthday or something...
AnonyMoose @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
'Stoked' is not a word that means 'excited'. Stop using it.
Tyler @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
-the guy IS the president, and he is using what is generally considered the best music player out there. Is this surprising?
Jim In Holland @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
Looks like he's got an audio book - "My Pet Goat"...
AnonyMooseisanidiot @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
AnonyMoose, stoked is slang for exhilarated or excited. Look it up on dictionary.com

Mike--
Christopher Morris is a world-class photojournalist who has been around for quite some time. That is why he has that kind of access.
ChillyWilly @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
Is that an Audible book he's listening to... "Eats, Shoots and Leaves"
Seriously, I don't care if Bush has an iPod. It's pretty popular and the market share it has, it stands to reason that a lot of people have one, including people some of us loathe.
I'd be more interested to see if he's got bootlegged music on it... he he
Adam Lyttle @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
Why are the Google Adwords suggesting "Grand Theft Auto"? Are they subtly trying to tell me something?
Jeff @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
notice how he is "trying" to press a button on the click wheel. (at least it looks like that to me) but the hold switch is on!
METHVEIN @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
You have to admit it though, that's the cutest lookin villain with an ipod.
msafi @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
of course the president is an ipod user.
did you forget his iDebate?
TK101 @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
People magazine interviewed Bush a while back, and he did say he uses an iPod while jogging.
I, however, still voted for Kerry ;)
Jim @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
...Yeah, a bunch of bootleg Christian Rock, plus the classic rendition of John Ashcroft singing "Let the Eagles Soar". http://www.cnn.com/video/us/2002/02/25/ashcroft.sings.wbtv.med.html
Akshat @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
As someone mentioned, there was a pic in Time magazine in their Person of the Year issue which showed Bush with his ipod biking or something so this should hardly come as a surprise.
Matthew Cox @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
surprised at the iPod and the Trek bike? Naah...that's probably the bargain basement of what that guy gets for free. (the real reson ppl want to be President - it's all about the schwag.)
I'm guessing he doesn't have the "Future Soundtrack for America" on his, but I bet he just loves the HP printable tatts...
arkowi @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
Adam-
{Why are the Google Adwords suggesting "Grand Theft Auto"? Are they subtly trying to tell me something?}
because google ads is keying in under "Recent Entries" where it says "Game over: PSP gets GTA (1/10/2005)"
John Anderton @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
thats it. i'm selling my ipod
will @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
What's he listening to? :P
Cheryl @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
If the president is so dumb, why does he keep mopping the floor up with your buddies?
MikeUnwired @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
The iPod is the great equalizer. It gives the middle-schooler and the President of The United States something in common. I'm surprised that no one has published POTUS' playlist on iTunes yet.
KH @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
To all of the Bush haters:
While I generally do not advocate taking delight in the sufferings of others, I cannot help but find tremendous joy in listening to the tantrum. Liberalism has been stuck like a wild boar- and man can it squeal!
Iceseven and others of like mind, please send along your iPods to those of us who will appreciate the beauty of fine craftsmanship and take pride in knowing it is used by a great man among us. Their are many more people who would share your opinions in safer bastions of liberalism like Canada or France. If you need help with transportation, let us know.

Nathan Wong @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
I'm sure he's listening to "American Idiot - Green Day'.
Noel D. Jackson @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
I know they are easy to use, but that easy? :)
Mike @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
He's most likely listening to "America - Fuck Yeah" from Team America!
Go GW!
Jerry @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
hes most likely listening to the daily source code with Adam Curry
Jasper F. Geschmidtt @ Dec 19th 2005 12:09AM
It is too bad he doesn't have the time, or maybe the ability, to read a news paper.
