Taiwan's Lead Type launches portable audio/video players
Not everything at CES is super-expensive, cutting-edge gear (though that pretty much describes most of the stuff we like best). Some things are just cheap, functional knock-offs of higher-end products, like the portable media players from Taiwanese manufacturer Lead Type Precision Electronics. These include the M0210, an audio player with a 5GB disk and a clear case of iPod-envy, and the MO920, a video player with a 2.5" LCD screen. Lead Type is better known as an OEM supplier of cables and parts for companies like NEC and Sharp. Whether they're able to compete in the consumer market may depend on their ability to leverage some of that experience to get some decent brand names slapped on these products, so they can get some cred in the marketplace.
