EOD bots take the hard hits in Iraq

EOD bot

EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) technician, yeah, not a job we'd want. Which is why America's soldiers in Iraq, though apparently lacking armor on their vehicles, are surely more than a little relieved having EOD-bots to take care of their IED (that's Improvised Explosive Device—it's a whole 'nother world of military acronyms out there!) threats. Apparently they just pop on some small arms (or a grenade launcher, if you're feeling spicy) and boom (pun not intended), they roll out with drastically fewer casualties than manually taking explosive devices to be destroyed. Though we've yet to hear specifically about the PackBot being used in the clearance of dangerous materials, we know its day will come soon enough.
