Doctor develops SMS-enabled pill bottle
A South African doctor has developed the SIMpill, an SMS-enabled pill dispenser, that can remind patients to take their meds and warn them if they're about to take an extra dose. While it sounds like a clever idea, we wouldn't want to depend on anything as balky as our cellphone to remind us to take medication. We'll stick to something reliable, like having reminders relayed to our SPOT watch over MSN Direct.

you guys should site your sources better. Gadgetmadness.com is a little pissed. This story was on gizmodo hours ago.
What use would USA-only SPOT technology be to a South African doctor developing solutions for South Africans living in South Africa? Get the hint?
"something reliable, like having reminders relayed to our SPOT watch over MSN Direct"
a micro$oft service reliable? LOL you gonna die soon
Guttrhead,
This story was submitted as a tip by me to Engadget before Gizmodo put it up. I am not sure how Gizmodo found it themselves, but I am confident that Engadget, the good people that they are, received the info directly from us at Medgadget.
SMS reminder? What would it say? My guess OMG, TYFP ;)
Guttrhead,
As an add'l point, I would like to assure you that none of us at Medgadget has notified Gizmodo about the pill bottle. They have linked to us numerously, as they seem to look at our blog on a regular basis: and we are thankful for their courtship.
To all,
My Bad.
My wife could use this. She takes medicine for Anxiety attacks etc. It's important that she not forget to take her pill everyday.
