Toto toilet... with an SD slot
Are you getting anxious about hitting the head? Is the Sound Princess just not cutting it anymore? Or maybe you just really want to hear that one Robbie Williams album while sitting down. Look, Toto (Japans premiere toilet-maker) isn't here to solve all of life's issues—you know that—they're just here to encapsulate Japan's obsession with the ludicrous in the form of bathroom devices; their latest plan? Put SD slots in toilets. Man, you know you've really arrived as a memory-card format when Toto's putting you in their toilets.

Man! I just go a Toto and didn't know about the SD option.
Well, they've got some other cool stuff for tiny bathrooms, check out the toilet/sink combo! Don't worry, different bowls for different purposes.

I want one. I saw some awesome toilets when I was in japan, but none had sd slots. They did have wireless remotes and water and scents shooting out of everywhere though. Maybe they can use that xml format just developed for smell and you can put that on the card too. That way your guests (activated when you sit down) are greated with your tunes and scent, all within the bathroom.

I love you guys and can't wait to get up in the morning to read "what's new". BUT, I only do so after spending time with my Toto. You know we thought way ahead with reference to computers - in Japan they have thought way ahead with the toilet...The only reason we don't have many of theirs here is because we have trees to cut down and make "needless" toilet paper. Use a Toto and wash yourself properly and sanitarily a few times and you'll understand!

What's an sd slot?? Please be a little more explicit.

If you want to read a mangled translation of their website, go to

Toto does make the best toilets -- reliable, easy to clean, (hey, don't take my word for it, read Dave Barry: http://mirrors.meepzorp.com/miami.com/herald/toilet-testers/
)
But this truly must be a porcelain god: the prices start at 198000 yen -- just under $2000 - and run nearly to $4000!

not to be a jerk, (which makes me sound more like a jerk, I know) but how does anyone browsing such a sight about high-tech gear not know what an SD slot is?
B @ Dec 19th 2005 1:04AM
A SD slot is a reader for SD cards. SD are flash memory cards. I guess it's used to store mp3s that you can listen to while you're on the can.
lupinstel @ Dec 19th 2005 1:04AM
SD=Secure Digital (flash memory about the size of a stamp). But like someone else said, if you are into gadgets how can you not know this?

Hey!! It's all Japanese to me!!

Maybe the tolilet will also record a log of volume and weight of excrement on the the SD card, could be usefull for people with some kind of health problem.

My wife always accuses me of listening to crap music....
sorry for the drive by pun

Japanese toilets seem to be the best and most advanced. On the other extreme, the worst, most disgusting, most user unfriendly and just plain gross toilets ever used by a supposedly developed nation have to be the German abominations. Check out the following site.

Wow this beats the "Roboflush"! Imagine loading up .wav files of 8 hours worth of groaning, splashing, etc...

This guy is onto something finally a use for all these cameras we don't need could be the 1 megapixel "loaf" logger.
This time alittle toilet humour is called for
David Morgenstern @ Dec 19th 2005 1:04AM
Now, a Bluetooth-capable toilet would be SO MUCH BETTER and then I could download iTunes files into it, sync my toilet with my contact files and everything!
ron major @ Dec 19th 2005 1:04AM
Toto also put lights in the bathtub and call it chromotherapy to settle your mood. Little LED's in the bottom and side run the color spectrum.
So much for candles...
