Noxon Audio Player offers WiFi music streaming
The Noxon Audio Player is the latest entrant
to the increasingly crowded field of WiFi audio adapters. Like the Airport Express, EZ-Stream Wireless Audio
Adapter and other similar
units, the Noxon can stream audio from your PC to any stereo or speakers over your home network. The Noxon does
have a couple of features that set it apart from some competing devices (though not higher-end ones like the Roku
Soundbridge). It comes with its own remote, which lets you configure the unit as well as control your audio, and has an
LCD display which can display song info and other data. It also has built-in software for PC-independent playback of
Internet radio streams. It's got a street price of about $150, putting it in what could be a sweet spot between the
Airport Express and the $200 Roku M500 (Mac and Linux
users should note that Noxon's posted specs only list Windows support, but users report that it is compatible with all
three operating systems).

PC-independent playback for internet streams is a feature I think every player should have, but the Windows dependency is senseless. I'll stick to my squeezebox like the rabid linux user that I am.

I just purchased a Sonos and would be happy to put it up against any of these media adapters. PC indepndence is a great thing with Sonos. All of these bridges have to have your PC running.

It is not windows only. It use UPNP protocol and it has media server working fine on linux (tested) and osx (included on cd) .. it works with WinXp at my home ...

If a company would just get smart and integrate something like this with a clock radio/alarm clock, they'd be be making money hand over fist.

Yeah, I can confirm what daniele says: Noxon Audio really works under Windows, Linux and MacOS. IIRC it even works with iTunes.. and any other software that shares music via uPNP.
The device is cool.. except for the display, thats a pitty ;)

Roku SoundBridge plays internet radio w/o the PC, and support music streaming from PC/Mac/Linux. It also supports all the major formats and many music services. It has a great display. Available in three models.
