I really like the design of this phone. I hope a similar model is released here in Japan.
Tyler @ Dec 19th 2005 12:11AM
Actually looks pretty sweet! One thing I can't tell is whether there is an easy way to control things in your pocket without looking. One of the problems with combination devices (like my Treo) is the lack of dedicated back, skip, and pause buttons for no-look operation

i still don't understand what makes this a walkman cellphone. it's just a regular sonyEricsson phone except it has the walkman logo on it.
Joaquim @ Dec 19th 2005 12:11AM
Sony already got that they must give MP3 support, now what we need is SD and not the damm MemoryStick.
asli @ Dec 19th 2005 12:11AM
Did anyone notice the earphones?
Joaquim @ Dec 19th 2005 12:11AM
I did notice that there's no standard headphone jack...
Aladar @ Dec 19th 2005 12:11AM
Yes it are the MDR-EX series, probably a low budget version of the 71/51 model. Nice :)
What's Wrong With Memory Stick? @ Dec 19th 2005 12:11AM
Yes yes yes, it's a proprietary format.
But it works really well, and it's not like everyone else is sticking to just one other format (ie: It's not Sony versus the world).
I mean there are almost a dozen different memory card standards in existence (or in the pipe).
If everyone else was using just one format, and Sony was stubbornly sticking to it's own I think the "screw memory stick" argument would have more of a leg to stand on.

I like the simple design.
It is interesting, on the Ericsson website they show the SanDisk Memory Stick PRO Duo card (not Sonys) but all the pictures of the card slot show just the MS Duo. And whats with the white & red jacks to hook up to the cars radio?

These MDR-EX series of earpuds are probably a first for any mobile phone. Wonder if it can accept the normal 1/8 inch earphone jack?
Does the design of this phone remind you of a certain Philips 530 phone

In looking at all of the pictures and remembering something I picked up in the Mobile-Review interview - I think that SE have introduced another proprietary connection ("SpeedPort"?). If true, that means that purchasers will be beholden to SE-issued earbuds - which is fine if they release some very high-end ones and all previous SE accessories (chargers...) will be useless.

1. Which carrier??
2. Is that a joystick? If so, I like...
Jay @ Dec 19th 2005 12:11AM
how much do you think this will be? (with the carrier mail in rebates)
Jay @ Dec 19th 2005 12:11AM
whats with the negative comments? i'm sure when that stupid itunes phone comes out you guys will be happy about it.
wysper @ Dec 19th 2005 12:11AM
I like this idea.
Of course I would get rid of the camera, give it more storage, usb connection and an fm radio!
memorystickphoneradio.. sure fire hit.
Brett @ Dec 19th 2005 12:11AM
Nice of Sony to steal the display idea of the music directly from Apple's iPods! I'm still going to gt it though, especially with the bluetooth and 2 megapixel camera.
One thing though, with all of these additions to cell phones are hey even trying to improve the actual quality of the phone itself?!

Can Sony produce anything other than a clone of a previous product? These all look like the T600 series, BORING!
ninjamonkey @ Dec 19th 2005 12:11AM
lookie it does have radio....and i dont see how my comment was necessary but i feel it was
rc51 @ Dec 19th 2005 12:11AM
I just hope that it has a nice glossy white and has chrome where the silver is located-so it can look kind of like my iPod.:)
Hopefully it will come out in the 2nd qt and be priced in the $400 range.
laura @ Dec 19th 2005 12:11AM
so i'm really curious about which carrier this phone will be on. does anyone know...?
dmo @ Dec 19th 2005 12:11AM
I highly doubt any carrier will take in this phone. Look at the Z600. You get that phone separately. Hah, thank goodness for asian stores. Z600 for free. V600 for free. RaZr for free. HAHAHA I wish W800i for free, but I highly doubt it. Im sure I can get K750 for free this summer =)
lauren smith @ Dec 19th 2005 12:11AM

It seems that everybody is missing the real point of this phone: The 2 megapixels camera. For the first time a camera that has enough resolution to make real prints of the pictures.
Bart @ Dec 19th 2005 12:11AM
I have the W800i and Im in love with it...
The only thing I really miss is that it can not use the m3u play list.
I sold my old 512mb creative Muvo TX and bought a 1GB Memorystick Duo Pro.
On this phone the mp3s sound better then on the Muvo!
And the headphones are much better then the ones provided with the Muvo.
Ben McRedmond @ Dec 19th 2005 12:11AM
I have one two and it kicks ass!
