Israeli army using wrist video screens to monitor drone planes
Tadiran Spectralink LTD, a military contractor, has developed wrist video systems for use by
Israeli armed forces. The screens display data from unmanned drone planes, allowing forces to see over hills or
into areas they wouldn't normally have access to. The wearable screens supply a distinct strategic advantage to
those wearing them, and a clear disadvantage to those being watched. Also in development by Spectralink is a
videogame-looking control console for unmanned tanks and other armed vehicles. Sam Fisher and Solid Snake would
be so proud.
[Thanks, Jason]

I'm sure that the Israelis will only use it for good.
Does the device also cut off circulation? I mean, holy popping veins Batman, his hand is going to blow!
Yes, I agree that isn't a great shot.
That hand is a bit discolored.
But the REST of him is safer!
the great thing about it is that to the casual observer it just looks like an ordinary wrist watch. how very clandestine!
#1 Let's use a technology blog to take a jab at the Israelis. Get a life!
"ordinary wrist watch"
Only if Gary Coleman is the one wearing it.
As for the developing control console:
I can just picture a soldier gleefully becoming absorbed in RC-ing a tank around downtown somewhere via this thing. Blowing up buildings and crashing through walls and such. The worlds greatest video game...
Only to have his fun come to a screeching halt when a 15 year old resistance fighter/malitiaman ( this scenerio is not conflict specific, it could be anywhere ) walks up behind him and stabs him in the kidney...
If you've ever played DeltaForce 2 online, you know EXACTLY what I'm talking about...
It never ceases to amaze me how intellectual and intelligent the comments on here can often be. Clearly, non of you know anything about military technology or Israeli
#5: Considering that the post talks about the Israeli army and "strategic advantage" and disadvantage, I don't see #1's comment being out of line at all. I too don't believe the Israeli army will use this to end wars around the world the way the Canadian Peacekeeping Corps does.
In the end, you're just being way over-sensitive about this.
Peace ;-)
"Clearly, non of you know anything about military technology or Israeli"
#7: I for one am glad I know little about military technology, and I hope I never have to learn more. I live in a peace-loving country who is in the business of ending wars, not starting them, and I have no need for mega-weapons and intelligence super-gizmos.
Sure, some wars might accelerate technological advances (just accelerate, advances will happen anyway), but I'd rather lose some hi-tech than see people killed and buildings destroyed, no matter where they live.
#9. Does that country of yours have a name?
#9: No one dislikes Canada because Canada has nothing anyone else wants. Go sit in the middle of Bagdad and see how long you last. If the deserts not your style, try Columbia. You'll quickly find out that the world is not a peaceful place.
As far as technology is concerned, Canada hasn't produced anything useful since...well, never.
No offense, but if the Israeli's are using this to blow up people who are trying to kill them, and kill Americans, and who ever else they don't like, more power to them.
#11: Canada happens to be the number one exporter of oil to the US, so I think we have SOMETHING you want. Also, Canada exports about one billion dollars worth of other goods to the US, EVERY DAY!
As for technology, your knowledge of the history of technological innovation is sadly lacking. Here is a sample of the inventions and innovations from Canada: telephone, hydrofoil, ironlung, the first to achieve two-way voice transmission by radio, the first self-propelled combine, snowmobile, marine propeller, The Canadarm which vastly increases the usefullness of the space shuttle, kerosene, insulin, the first heart pacemaker, IMAX, the walkie talkie, 3-D vision technology, the electronic flight simulator, the geostationary communications satellite, and pablum, to name but a few.

I do. I know it's spelled -I-S-R-A-E-L
So that makes one more thing I know that you don't. Peace people.
Hey look, a Microsoft SPOT watch!

You know you're losing an argument when you start picking on the other person's spelling.
Hopefully the Israelis can use this to kill some Arab terrorists. More power to 'em!
Wow, utter the word Israel and the comments section of a technology blog become hostile and accusatory. How about reacting to the technology and the article - the specifics - and not making this space a pathetic platform to express your misinformed, uninteresting stereotypes. Homogenized rhetoric and veiled, holier-than-thou anti-semetism is just, oh, I dunno, so very typical.
If Canada had any neighbors remotely resembling the group of thug nations that surround Israel, you'd see them developing 60" plasma screen mounted on horses just to get a clearer picture of the moron coming to blow himself up for the sake of 70 virgins in heaven.

GO 13!!
What do you mean "if" Canada were surrounded by thug nations?
