Sharp's Japan-only home composting units

We're as environmentally conscious as the next urban apartment dweller, which means we make a half-hearted effort to separate our recyclables, and pass off our soda cans to homeless guys so they can cash them in for nickels. One thing we are not about to do is start composting our organic trash. That is, unless someone makes it absolutely effortless to do so. Well, it turns out Sharp has done that, with its Household Kitchen Waste Composter, a shiny white box that uses a proprietary mix of microbes to break down organic trash. Right now, the composter is only available in Japan, and that's actually fine with us. See, as easy as all this sounds, we figure we'll still have to empty the thing, and that sounds like about as much fun as, well, as having a compost heap in the middle of our kitchen.
