You've got your battery pack, your mini-speakers, and some more minty audio goodness besides. But the collection doesn't end there, friends — the tradition lives on in the Altoids UMD case. We can't help but marvel at the fact that there are a lot of geeks out there with some mighty fine breath, but we're holding out for the as-yet-unveiled Altoids Halitosis tin so we can snag a case for our laptop.

I just stuffed a game in the pocket of my bag today and was worried about finger prints and scratches. As I look over my desk, there is an old citrus sours container...excellent!!
and free!!! :)
Another great use for the tins....I put tea bags for the road in my purse in my old Altoid tin!
Don't forget its use as a Pentax digital camera case.

I estimate it holds around 7 or 8 games and is quite pocketable and durable. Been using it since Christmas.

Cool idea, BUT...I can only get it to hold two UMDs...When you put the third in, it gets stck and needs to be removed with something like a butter knife or such. Guess I'll break down and buy a case!
Sigh. If only I could find a suitable tin for my Canon SD200. It's just slightly too big for an Altoids tin, which is unfortunately exactly the same size as a Penguin Mints tin and a Meijer AstonishMints tin. If anyone has found something that works, please share.
Be sure you wash it out thoroughly first! Altoids dust in your brand new UMD drive would be bad, to say the least.
Did anyone try the IceBreaker mint can?
It is the same size as Altoids but thinner a bit. Might be more ideal for one who carry less games.
When I saw this this morning I picked a pack up and same thing happened with #7, after 2 games you have to pry them out, which is rather nerve racking....Cool idea, but, no cigar.
Or you can just settle for carrying 2 games in the "case" and a third in the system... For now, I can deal with traveling with only 3.
Actually, Altoids that come in round cases like that are sour, not minty.
UMD as a format for viewing movies on the PSP makes no sense..expensive,annoying, you gotta carry them all around, when u can stick loads on a 1gb memory stick...duh..
What's all this crap about getting only 2 in the case (# 7 & 11). I've been able to fit 3 inside without problems. I think that certain people are forgetting to take the lining (or the mints themselves) out of the case, LOL.

the only problem with encoding your own movies is that Sony limits the resolution to 320x240 so that users cannot get the same quality as movies on UMD (which are 480x272). Which means that there is now only a sliver of a chance that people will actually buy those things.

Maybe if they actually sold bundle packs that came with the DVD movie and the UMD movie for 24.99 people would get into it, but a UMD alone is an unproven format. As of now you can only use it in your PSP where as you can use a dvd anywhere. That altoids sours can idea is sweet.. Im going to the store!
Heh, I did the altoids can thing. CHEAPER. Think about it. Two plastic name brand cases are about $12 (Canadian) 1 altoid case is only $3 (canadian) I can get about 4 altoid tins for about the price of two UMD (holds three) cases. Course, if I go to No Frills they're much cheaper.
Plus, there's candy! :> All video game products should come with free munchies!
I read about the tin idea last night, and first thing this morning I went to best buy (for father's day DVD raid), and I picked one up, it works fine with 3 UMDs in it, no prying needed!
I can easily fit 5 games in my altoids tin. You have to work the tin a little bit, but 5 fits really nice. Other times I keep 4 and a cleaning cloth inside.
To the people who only got 2 in.....stop being women.
