Spectec's stubby WiFi SD card
Not sure how long this one has been kicking around for since their site is almost completely bereft of details, but Spectec has a WiFi SD expansion card that has one major advantage over pretty much ever other WiFi SD card out there: it hardly sticks out of your SD card slot at all. It still juts out a bit, but compare that with those long-necked WiFi SD cards from palmOne, SanDisk, Pretec, etc. which are just begging to get accidentally busted. Now all they've got to do is squeeze 512MB of memory in there and we'll finally be satisfied.

w00t! However, who uses a non-WiFi enabled Pocket PC anymore? (palmOnes are lame)
bob @ Dec 19th 2005 12:12AM
now if we could only get solid treo650 drivers we'd be set.
OddManOut @ Dec 19th 2005 12:12AM
I wonder if the effectiveness of the antenna was compromised during the shrinking process ?
Nifty looking though...does it support Net/Mini-stumbler ???
Christian @ Dec 19th 2005 12:12AM
Ooooh... I would like to use it with QTEK S100 (aka. i-mate jam, aka. xda mini or something)
Now if someone could just remove that little stump too, so there would be nothing sticking out. But that would probably impare the range a bit :D

Can't find the product URL... anybody know it?

"w00t! However, who uses a non-WiFi enabled Pocket PC anymore?"
i-mate JAM owners, such as myself... except not me in particular, as I have a portable for wifi, and only use the JAM for gprs and bluetooth.

it still sticks out enough that on an HP hw6500 it would still be lame to use. thank god they decided to also make the wi-fi including hw6700.
Suntiger @ Dec 19th 2005 12:12AM
Yes, but does it run Linux?
Seriously though, are there Palm OS drivers for this thing?

Uh, all of us who have EV-DO broadband PocketPC's like the Audiovox 6600 from Verizon. Don't have to find a wifi hotspot.
Jimbob @ Dec 19th 2005 12:12AM
Someone has got to write some Palm OS drivers for this thing.
Looks like a great product.
Jimbob @ Dec 19th 2005 12:12AM

Brett @ Dec 19th 2005 12:12AM
Somebody should really consider making a wifi sd card that can take a mini sd memory card that way they could shrink the size of the sd wifi + memory cards.
crviii @ Dec 19th 2005 12:12AM
This is about to be released in Australia.
I can't wait to get my hands on one.
Does anyone know if this supports WPA?
