A note to all the parents in the house: Sure, maybe you'd save a few bucks by buying your kid a POP Station Value Pack instead of a PlayStation Portable (we know it can be tough even finding a PSP in some parts of the country), but you better be prepared for the look of crushing disappointment you're going to receive when you give them this janktastic knockoff.
P.S. - Scarily enough, this is actually the 4th PSP clone we've spotted, you might also recall the GM-219, that Lenovo cellphone, and some other random Chinese one that turned up in January.

I agree with esmail. Some people went through hell just to get a working one. I will admit, it is a sweet system, i've played one (my friends cuz i cant afford my own :D). But sony definately scewed up big time this time. So i think sony deserves all the bad reviews, because of the hell some had to go through.

The screen coloring and button layout of the "random Chinese one" looks just like this one. I think they're the same product.
I agree with number #10, I'm pretty sure it is the same one - if you look carefully at the screen, it has the same game playing on both machines.
#10 is right. This thing apparently only plays that one game, and its not even a real lcd. On the "random Chinese one" you can see on the top of the screen the score area "0000" (its the same kind of screen as your digital clock screen).
Wow they really made that box look like a psp box. I think this is one case where some legal action might be warranted, because I can realistically see many parents seeing this (box) and thinking this might be the psp.

Well, that's Sony's problem. They put so much hype behind it that the con artists saw it as a quick scheme to make money. And the funny thing is, dumbasses won't research before they buy so that they can be sure to get the real deal.

I lived in China before and let me tell you.. every single fad item from America is knocked off there.
DVD's cost $1 (8 Yuan) there.
XBOX games cost $1
PS2 games cost $1
They even have 512mb, 5 GB and 10GB versions of the APPLE IPOD labeled in Chinese "GOLDEN YIP".
In a country like America you can think about suing whoever you want but in china,
#1 You'd never find the people manufacturing this garbage and #2 The PRC government wouldn't let you prosecute anyone on their side.
In America, little girls get sued by the RIAA for using Kazaa. When I was in China, millions of students in schools with computers could download anything they choose without so much as a thought about patents and copyrights.
For god's sake they box and ship our cd's and software to America right after they run off a few thousand copies.
So much for intellectual property.
Within a few months China will make a "PCP" which features the sega genesis cpu (or NES cpu) and has 20 or more games allready in internal memory.
Thats what they did with the Game Boy and Game Gear shells.

I'm aware profanity isn't the best way to go about this, but sometimes it's warranted.
If you just look at the screen shot, you can see that the actual guts of this system is like a TIGER HANDHELD... You can see the like 4 or 5 fixed positions that the fighter can be in... Its like playing mega man 10 on my hand held tiger game and he runs by standing in one place, alternating between two positions for his legs and because the floor boards move...
the case/box is the only PSP like component, I'm sure enough to warrant the release of the hounds (read lawyers)...
I know by adding my 2 cents on this one, I'll probably be adding myself to this list but what the heck?
I've noticed reading through all of these different blog sites on articles about the PSP that the #1 complaint about them is the dead pixels. There must be literally tens of thousands of posts throughout the various blog sites on this subject matter. I've also noticed that it you really take a look at all the posters who are making these comments, its the same people over and over. So that cuts the amount of real posts in half, lets say. Of those remaining posts, half of those posters dont even have the psp, they're just joining in on the flamming or commenting about someone elses psp. That cuts the amount of valid posters down even further.
Now let's assume the remaining posters actually have PSP's and have had dead pixel problems. That really only acounts for a few thousand people with pixel problems, at the most. Seeing as how Sony has sold almost a million units just here in the US, that really only accounts for maybe 1-2% of the market. So to sit here and BITCH about Sony having a real problem and complaining about dead pixels is ridiculous. The fact of the matter is that when you manufacture and produce as many products as they do, you are bound to have some products that are defective and pass through the QA tests and make it to the shelf. But to me, 1-2% is an acceptable number in my book. Most companies will have a margin of error like this, if not worst. The PSP is just getting more attention then others because its so high profile.
So please, stop complaining about the dead pixels in every PSP article that goes up and try and move on. It's an old topic already and quite frankly, its getting annoying seeing all these posts on it and very boring.
P.S. - Yes I have a PSP and no I don't have any dead pixels. I also know quite a few people that have purchased one and none of them have this problem either.
Moving on.......
My friend has 3 PSPs... he had to return two of them due to dead pixel issues. He now has 3 decent PSPs.
I got mine last week... first one, not a single dead pixel that I can find. I think this is called manufacturing en masse and it's pretty common with high end smaller LCDs. Some PDAs have had that issue in the past. Plus this screen size is not so common, which increases the chance of getting a unit with multiple dead pixels.
As for the cheapo knockoff, it's funny even thought it's pretty crappy looking. I expect more knockoffs as the popularity of this thing gets bigger.

Man, that thing looks kinda lame. My cell phone gets better graphics than that, there's like 4 colors on that thing, sheesh. It resembles a PSP until you turn it on.
Anyways,Sony sucks, XBOX owns, and I'd rather have a green and black GameBoy, because they dont break down like a PSP after one use.

they've been doing this for years, I remember when they did it for nintendo, super nintendo, N64 and Playstation... they would loook basically identical on the outside but contain cheap little "beep beep" games on the inside... still, you'd have to be pretty dumb to actually buy one.

I have the POP and I have to say I love it!! Easy to use and the screen is very bright. I only used the cheapest AA's I can find and they last over 30 minutes. Plenty of time for me to finish crapping while I play. Everytime my friends try to check out my new "PSP" I just put it away and tell them to get their own, and to stop bothering me while I poop!
